  1. This spring, Wallace is starting an evening ADN program. Applications were available today at the Dothan office as well as at the website. From what I can see, looking at the packet, the only prereq is completion of BIO 103 with a "D" or better, or a passing score on an approved exam. As far as the math requirement, the student must be eligible for Math116 which is determined by either exam or completion of basic math.
  2. Thanks a million Jess!
  3. Hi Jess. Where did you take your Micro online w/lab? I'm trying to get as many of my pre-reqs as I can before I retire from the military in a couple years and I have to do them on line since I am stationed in Africa. I have the Peterson's distance learning catalog and it lists lots of courses including the Micro but only the names of the schools instead of the URLs. Then, when I try to find the courses at the school by typing the info into my web browser, I always seem to come up with everything except the course that I'm looking for. Thanks in advance. Sandra
  4. hi heather. i looked into that program and it sounds really great. i definitely intend to apply since i already have a bs and an ms. being from delaware, however, i wonder what the cost of living is like in that area? also, does the cna have to be from a program in california and does sonoma offer the cna program as well? sorry for all the questions. the website doesn't give a whole lot of information. i won't be able to apply for a few years since i'm still in the army so hopefully there will be a lot more information and statistics on this program by then, since as you said, it's fairly new. by the way, for others who may be reading this and interested, i found a somewhat similar program at the university of iowa, only it's called a "professional masters in nursing and healthcare practice". time of completion is only 18 months at which time you sit for the rn exam and cna prep is not a prerequisite.
  5. i have said a prayer for you and asked god to provide you with peace and comfort and the strength to bear this terrible tragedy. god will never burden us with more than we can handle. believe that the divine has wonderful things in store for you. if you are of the christian faith, you may find comfort in the book of job...and remember - faith can break the sky in two and let the face of god shine through.
  6. oh - i forgot to say - deadline's not until december 15.
  7. here's the web address: http"//cnhp.drexel.edu/ you can find application deadlines there. you can also apply online and there is no application fee. you probably know this already but just in case. good luck.
  8. i know!! that's why i was wondering about the difference. thanks for clearing it up for me. in your last sentence, did you mean to say psychiatrist or did you mean that a psychiatric nurse can do the same things as a psychologist? i looked into numerous doctorate psychology programs and msw programs as well and i was surprised, first to find out how long the doctorate programs take to complete and second to find out what the starting salaries are for both clinical psychologists and clinical social workers. psychiatric nursing seemed to me the most attractive option. i'm hoping to get into one of the direct graduate entry programs leading to specialization in a few years (3) when i retire from the military.
  9. adelle, thank you so very much for your response. this information is very helpful to me and is exactly what i was trying to find out. have a great day.
  10. you're right - and i tried that route. got all the way up to page 10 in that particular forum. up to that point i had not found out what i needed to know. unfortunately i currently reside in a third world country and we have so many power outages that it's hard to remain on line for any significant amount of time. also, many of the threads were from a couple of years back and i am looking to hear about something recent. and too, i'm surfing at work during breaks (which aren't that many) since we don't have internet service in our residences. as such, i was hoping that someone would be kind enough to provide the requested information if it's not too much trouble. i know that nurses are extremely busy people but a paragraph or two would be sufficient.
  11. i would like to know what type of work psychiatric nurses perform, especially those who are clinical nurse specialists in this area. i am trying to figure out how the work is different from that of a licensed clinical social worker or a licensed psychologist or if there is a significant difference. any information provided would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.
