  1. Thank you!
  2. Ours is 3-1, Im not talking about the pt-rn ratio, but about the types of patients.
  3. Many people failed on the 1st try, I know of at least 10. Some people found jobs straight away (GMC and Dekalb Medical), others had to move to Macon. I know Dekalb has put a freeze on hiring ADN's, GMC hires their externs.
  4. I should rephrase, the senior classes (2 different classes) and seems like you have not been in that program. I graduated, I know what I'm talking about. People DID take responsibility for their own learning, even straight A students like myself were failing. Again, I know what Im talking about because I was in that program and SUCCESSFULLY completed it.
  5. Most good instructors have left, the remaining ones (with a few exceptions) don't give a crap about students. Very disorganized, most seniors have been failing two years in a row, not because of the students, but because the instructors teach topics they know nothing about, and put questions on the exams about stuff they never covered in class.
  6. Depends on where you're applying, most hospitals have residency programs, as others have said, but they have set start dates. Grady you have to be hired into a unit first, and I know they're hiring at the moment. The only downside for Grady is that HR can be VERY slow, so I suggest visiting in person (actually, I suggest that for any hospital) and speaking to the Director of the units you're interested in.
  7. Grady, no question about it. Grady is a Level I trauma facility, even though Atlanta Medical recently got designated Level I, Grady is still the main trauma center. Grady is a teaching hospital, as is Emory, but the experience you get at Grady (if that's what you're looking for, experience vs $$$) is unrivaled, at least in the areas you're interested in.
  8. Thanks! ICU for sure, planning on transferring to our Surgical-Trauma ICU this summer. Btw been there, done that, I Love your Madonna icon!

    hairy here, no undershirt.
  10. I graduated from GPC. DO NOT buy any of the books before hand, I know you guys are excited about Nursing school, but you will not be using many of the books, and if you can, either rent or buy used. Good luck, I hope the program starts picking up, because it has been going downhill fast.
  11. RUN as fast as you can away from GPC. The program has been going downhill fast. Most of the senior class (75%) is usually failing, not because the program is "hard," but because most of the instructors left are horrible, they teach you nothing, and the exams are about material not even properly covered in class. I would suggest trying to get into a BSN program anyway, job opportunities for ADN's in the Atlanta area are dwindling down.
  12. Hello fellow RN's, I'm a Critical Care RN, my floor is Intermediate Care (step down) at a large county hospital, however, most of our patients would be considered ICU patients at other hospitals. I am looking to get into travel nursing in a couple of years, I've read about different agencies and they all seem to be middle of the road (lots of pros and cons). Which agencies would you recommend? What should I look for in an agency? What should I ask the recruiters? What should I look for in my contract? I appreciate your help!
