3 nursing jobs in 2 years. Unhirable?
Yes, you can keep your license even if you aren't a nurse. I wouldn't recommend letting it go inactive, as you will have to pay more to get it reinstated depending on your state. I'll tell my story: so I was a hospital nurse for 11 years. I switched to nights when my son was a baby and stayed on nights for about 3 years. Like you I struggle with depression and anxiety (more so depression). This was complicated by the fact that I couldn't sleep at all during the day. Even more so by not having reliable babysitting and me having to more or less come home after working 12 hours and be up with my son so my husband could go to work, only sleeping when he slept. I would literally go days without any sleep. I cut down to PRN but honestly it just made me more depressed as I felt I was losing a big part of myself. One night I royally messed up and forgot to turn a bed alarm on a fall risk patient. He got up and fell. Fortunately he wasn't seriously injured, but that and not remembering much about his fall, not remembering my interventions for the fall because I had been up 48 hours at that point and my memory was pretty much s***, dealing with my manager...I was done. I had already put in my notice as I was looking at opening a home daycare, but I was done that night. I had two more shifts to go, but I requested and got on call/cancelled for both of them. I took about two months off to get myself mentally healthy again. I opened a home daycare and worked with that for a year and a half and absolutely loved it. I would still be doing it if my mom hadn't got sick. Now, I work in a school and feel like school nursing is what I was made to do. There are so many different paths you can take in nursing and with an LPN license, you can do just about anything. However, if you don't get help for your issues they are going to follow you wherever you go. It's like putting a bandaid over a wound that really needs stitches. Going to a different place without addressing the main issue will just open the wound again. Regroup, get your issues addressed, and figure out your next path. Best of luck to you.

As an RN would you ever take a job as...
I personally would not. Why make LPN wage for a job you will more than likely be utilized as an RN anyway? If they want me to practice within my scope as an RN, then they will pay me as one. If not I will look elsewhere.
-
Can LPNs work in the delivery room or maternity?
At my facility they do not but at others in my area they do. I would call the local hospitals/birth centers in your area and check around.
-
New nurse no training?
I would not be working for this company. That is unsafe and asking for disaster.

Rude coworkers
She could have been stressed about what happened or had a bad day with all that going on as well. You know who you are and what skills you have. Don't let her get to you. We do bedside hand off reports at our facility. One time I handed a patient off to the day nurse, two hours later they coded. He did survive but I can tell you the night I went back and found out about him, I had thoughts like "what did I miss?" These things happen unfortunately.

Venting and Sub-par Programs
I would get out of this program. If they are not already under their state BON's radar they will be soon.

Feeling dumped on as new PRN
I'm confused why they made you switch patients. It would have been better for continuity to keep you with your original patient. I don't think I would look at other jobs yet though. If the pattern continues then I would look around.

I received this email from a professor. I was a little shocked. Opinon?
Yeah if I ever showed up out of uniform to a clinical site, I would be sent home.

Working ruined my dreams of wanting to become a nurse.
About 10 years ago I could have written this. I was a CNA at a horrible hospital with horrible nurses. I can't even write some of the things I witnessed. I kept my head low and just did the best I could do. The other posters are right, do not burn your bridges and just make the most of what you can now. Eight months later my manager approved my transfer request to a better hospital and I have been there ever since. Don't let one bad apple ruin you wanting to be a nurse. For one bad apple there are 10 good ones. Good luck.

ITT Tech RN program?
Please, use caution when dealing with ITT. The majority of campuses are not accredited by the NLNAC and the ACEN. If you want to advance your education the credits may not transfer to other colleges and universities. Right now they have a lawsuit with the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau. The New Mexico Attorney General has also filed a lawsuit against ITT due to issues in their nursing program.
