  1. Hi Everyone! I've been an RN for almost 7 moths and currently work in a large level IV NICU in Philadelphia. I've been learning a lot, have been challenged, and am really making the most out of my current experience. I am very well supported, have great resources, and work with a wonderful team of RNs. I will say, however, that although I love the patient population (neonates), I don't love the immensely critical nature of my patients every single day. I've quickly realized that I am not an adrenaline junkie, and would much prefer working with stable babies/feeder and growers. I find myself with an immense amount of anxiety going into work each shift, and it's really starting to affect my personal life. I'm not running out of the door of my current institution--rather, I'd like to start getting a feel for what else is out there so I can make a move once I hit my one year mark. Can you all suggest less acute level II/III NICUs for me to consider? NICUs whose patients are primarily working on feeds, growing, on cannulas and CPAP, etc. I don't care to have the majority of my patients intubated/trached, on pressors, clinging on to life. I am not tied down to a particular state and can move anywhere (I'm ready for a change obviously!) I'd love to be in a fairly large city as well! Thanks in advance!
  2. Just checked my BON's website, and my license is there and active. PVT definitely works! Good luck all.
  3. I tested today (01/30) in PA at 8am. Computer shut off after 75 questions--took me just under one hour. Came home and did the PVT about an hour and a half after testing and got the good pop up. Hopefully if I truly passed, my license will be on the BON website tomorrow. Thanks for all of the advice everyone! Cheers!
  4. I've received an email about taking the battery test--very nervous about it as I don't test well and have no idea what to expect. Can anyone offer guidance/study tips? Thanks in advance!

  6. For those who are traveling for the visit day in a few weeks, programming should wrap up by 2:00pm. (If you're like me and need to know for flight reasons, there you have it.) Hope to meet some of you there
  7. I'm in for the Pediatric Primary Care NP specialty! Now I have to decide b/w Penn and Columbia. Bring on the financial aid packages :-) Congrats everyone!
  8. Quick question for those who applied to the BSN/MSN program, but were only considered and interviewed for the accelerated second degree program. On the Penn Admissions website, does "Your School/Program Choice" still say BSN/MSN Program, or has it been changed to ABSN? Good luck to everyone!!
  9. I actually gave them a call last week to check-in on the phone interview scheduling--I think they're just a bit backed up with the holidays that take place in the last quarter of the year. My current employer needs me to travel before the holidays, so I wanted to make sure I could make the call. We scheduled it when I checked in with them. Very easy!
  10. Hi there! Are any accelerated BSN candidates still waiting on an exact date and time for your phone interviews? The last correspondence I received was on November 12th asking to register for a specific weekday and time window.
  11. Hi there, Thank you both for your very quick response. I've been calling all of the schools that I am interested in applying to in efforts of receiving some clarification. Based on the responses I've been getting, it looks like since I took the first semester in person (with an A grade) and since the lab component of A&P II is online, the hybrid course will be accepted. I'd still welcome receiving information from others!
  12. Hi there, I am in the process of completing prerequisite coursework to apply to combined BSN/MSN programs this coming application cycle. This past Spring I took A&P I (in-person) and am looking to take A&P II this summer so that I may have as many prereqs completed at the time of my application. The institute in which I am taking the course is only offering the second part of the sequence as a hybrid course--the lecture component is online and all of the labs are in-person. A number of the schools I am looking to apply to (UPenn, Rush University, Vanderbilt, etc) strongly discourage taking core science courses online stating. It is my understanding that the big no no is having no labs/online labs. For those who have been through the application process, have you encountered the same? I'd hate to take this course and find out that my credits will not transfer. Have any of you taken A&P as a hybrid course/partially or fully online? Did you have any difficultly transferring that credit? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Best regards to you all.
