Can the chemistry courses through university of new england be completed in less then 16 weeks? I noticed it mentioned an extension can be requested if more then 16 weeks is required, but what if you'd like to speed things up?

Does n-e-1 have info on the VA hospital
thanks for replying =+) it seems the only unit they're hiring new grads into is the spinal cord injury which sounds a little tough.

Any info on Miami VA hospital
I'm considering applying there as a new grad bsn. I really havent heard much about va hospitals, other then the great benefits. I wonder whether it would be a good place for a new grad to work and what the environment is like. Also, what's the application process like, any tips/insight?

For those in Florida, is medical error 2hr c.e a requirement?
Update: I was VERYYYYY lucky and received my att letter via email and was able to test on july 2nd(the last spot that was available for the first week of july) and found out the very next day via flbon website i passed and the following day had a license number up. I have no idea whether or not they'll mail out my license to me but at this point I dont think it matters(unless anyone can shed some insight otherwise). I figure I can just print out my license number if need be. Just in case though I have completed the 2hr medical error course and printed out the certificate.

Thanks for replying tampagirl =+) I do recall taking little quizzes/mini tests during health assessment lab first semester on medical error and other topics but I dont remember getting a certificate or printing anything out...at the time i didnt think it was anything important, just some nonsense my school wanted us to do to kill time... this may have been the c.e. Just in case i've already completed it online and printed out the certificate.

Btw, how long did it take for you guys to receive your att letter after submitting and paying for everything?? I know the florida board of nursing says within 30 days but normally how long would it be?? A friend of mine sent in her application on the 11th and hopefully she'll get it by the end of this week. I've paid pearsonvue already so i should be receiving it via email, hopefully that will shorten the waiting time.

For those in Florida, is medical error 2hr c.e a requirement?
I'm filling out the paperwork from the florida board of nursing site and notice a section on the application stating a 2hrs continuing education course is required to sit for the exam. I tried to register for the course online on nurse.com but needed a license number(which I cant get until AFTER i've passed the exam) so what the heck is going on?? here's the info copied and pasted MANDATORY CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENT Completion of a two-hour course on Prevention of Medical Errors is required prior to licensure. I attest I have completed a 2 hour course in the Prevention of Medical Errors as required by Florida I have NOT completed a 2 hour course in the Prevention of Medical Errors as required by Florida Statute and I understand that I will not be made eligible to take the exam until I submit proof of completion

Is 2 hr medical error c.e course requirement??
I'm trying to register to sit for the nclex and came across a section on the application stating I would need 2 hrs of c.e. to take the exam. I tried registering for the exam on nurse.com but need a license number to even register. what the heck is going on??????? MANDATORY CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENT Completion of a two-hour course on Prevention of Medical Errors is required prior to licensure. This course must be from an approved Florida Board of Nursing provider. I attest I have completed a 2 hour course in the Prevention of Medical Errors as required by Florida I have NOT completed a 2 hour course in the Prevention of Medical Errors as required by Florida Statute and I understand that I will not be made eligible to take the exam until I submit proof of completion.

Jackson Memorial Hospital
Thanks for replying Bumblebee test every day?? :biting nails: I went to their open house and the recruiter seemed to almost discourage any new grads from applying b/c it seems they havent had the best luck in retaining them. He stated the internship would be just like school with class one week and then clinicals 2 weeks afterwards including tests and the whole shebang. also, it was a hassle for them regarding those who failed the tests, b/c they would then have to try and negotiate with another unit to get that person a new job.

private school Vs public school
I guess it depends, everyone has their own perspective. I just graduated from Barry and overall I would recommend their nursing program to anyone interested in entering nursing. It definitely was no cake walk but i felt the teachers were receptive and available to us. But then again, our class started with around 150 and only 40 something graduated on time(but keep in mind some students had to do the 3 yr program for not keeping a 3.0 nursing gpa the first year, so it's not like they failed). There are definitely some instructors I'm glad I will never have to see again in my life. Although faculty try to help, really and truly they stick together. I can recall two professors that students dang neared petitioned against due to their lack of teaching skills, but to no avail.During clinicals we often saw Nova students and they loved their program.I befriended one of them and she described their program as one that really wants their students to succeed. As far as in comparison to public nursing schools i cant really say, since i have no experience to draw from.

Jackson Memorial Hospital
I'm possibly considering applying at Jackson for an icu position and was wondering if there was any insight I could be given as to their training of new grads and the experiences of those who've gone through it. From what I understand Jackson will be starting the versant program in July which hopefully will be for the better. I'm hoping since Jackson is a teaching hospital they will be accustomed to dealing with the needs of a new grad to ensure their success in the icu setting. I would be extremely nervous if i were to get this position, but i figure i wont be the first new grad into the icu and i should be ok. ANY WORDS OF WISDOM?? OR INFO ON JACKSON HOSPITAL IN GENERAL OR THE VERSANT PROGRAM??

For those attending Barry U or accepted to...
What science courses did you take?? according to Barry's website to be competitive it is advised to take chem, org chem and biochem. But, according to my friend she knows someoen who just started the program who only took chem(i'm not sure whether it was 1 or 2 semesters of chem) and has only 2 yrs experience. How realistic is this?? Also, would you guys happen to know the average gpa of those admitted or their gre scores? Also, is it true that they give preference to your last 60 credits gpa? I, personally was planning on taking at least 2 semesters of org chem and possibly bio chem before applying and having 2 or 3 yrs experience(i'm in my last semester of nursing school). So, i was just wondering what science courses those of you took and got accepted.

icu vs cvicu, would it be safe to say
that for a new nurse sicu would be a little harder to adjust to because of the variety of patients as oppose to cvicu where you can kind of expect and predict what will happen. I was just reading a thread on icu vs cvicu and came across a post where someone mentioned that after a while cvicu tends to become like a lung and heart factory and if all goes well you pretty much do the same thing to each patient. I'd really appreciate some feedback on this. I dont mean to offend anyone who thinks i'm implying cvicu nursing is easy WHICH I DEFINITELY DON'T THINK. Hopefully, upon graduating I plan on working either sicu or cvicu.
