So, I looked over their website. It says their program can be completed on a part-time basis over 2 years, I'm assuming you can do it full-time and complete it in 1 year? I've waited so long to do this that I just want to get it over and done with, kwim?

The 1 year experience is required for specialized areas (NICU, ICU). However, several new grads were hired recently for my unit, Mother/Baby. They are GS positions, Womack no longer uses Spectrum or other contract nurses in the Maternal Child Health depts.

Hi, you can apply at Womack Army Medical Center (Ft. Bragg) through USA jobs on the internet, they are currently hiring RN's in ICU, Stepdown, NICU, & Mother/Baby. You can also call the civilian personnel office, althought I don't have the number. Hope this helps! Stephanie

Hi, I have been in a GS nursing position for a about 6 months now but would love to be a part of the uniformed service. I'm really interested in the USPHS because I have small children and am not interested in long deployments. I was just wondering how much better the pay and benefits are compared to GS. I've looked at the pay scale table, but how do they compare considering the benefits? Thanks for any help! Stephanie

Where is this hospital in NC? I work in Fayetteville, base is 19.25 (with 1 year's experience), $4.00 night shift diff, and $1.10 specialty pay. Weekend diff is an extra $3.50. I thought I was bringing home the big bucks!

Hi, everyone! I've only been working in L&D for about 6 months, have been an RN for about 1 1/2 years. I've been recruited as a member of our unit's clinical research & policies committee. We meet next week and the policy we're reviewing/updating is the use of magnesium sulfate for ptl and pih. I found a couple of old threads regarding this issue, they're several years old. Was just wondering what the general consensus was regarding assessment protocol, ie monitoring blood pressures, checking for reflexes, etc. Any input would be much appreciated! Stephanie:)

Thanks everyone for all the feedback! I actually have received 2 emails from them encouraging me to fax my transcripts for review, they gave me contacts and seemed pretty friendly. I also contacted UNC-W by phone, just found out they also have an online program. They promised to email me info, have yet to receive it.

Thanks for replying, I see what you mean about the pass rate, but I'm already an RN, I'm interested in the BSN completion program. I was just wondering how the classes are, if it is mostly group discussions and papers, how helpful instructors are, etc. I'm looking for a program that won't require me to take a lot more prereqs and that doesn't totally consume my time and doesn't cost a fortune.

OK, haven't had a reply yet. I've tried to contact several different people affiliated with the BSN program at UNC-Charlotte by email and phone with no reply, is this a bad sign? Would appreciate any info regarding this school and their program, tia!

Hi, all! Just wondering if anyone has any info regarding UNC-Charlotte's RN-BSN program? I'm interested in their online program, they seem to have the least core requirements and the website says it can be completed in 1 calendar year. I tried emailing them, didn't get a response. Hi, I was just wondering if you could give me some specifics as to why being in the Army Nurse Corps and being a mom didn't work out for you. I am 33 and civilian, have been an RN for a little over a year. I'm very interested in joining the AF as a nurse after completing my BSN(plan to start in Jan). I have two children, they're 4 & 6 now. Do you think it's at all doable in your personal opinion? I know I'd have to make huge sacrifices, but my husband is very supportive, has been the caregiver the majority of the time while I was in school, worked, etc. I am very interested in joining the AF for the loan repayment(have a huge loan debt), retirement, and experiences from traveling. Of course, it's a great honor to serve my country above and beyond those other reasons. Sorry for the long post. I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks:) ! Stephanie

Glad your son has also remained seizure-free, but hypoglycemia was ruled out as a cause for my son's seizure. They checked his blood sugar in the ED, it was normal, in the 90's I believe. Thanks for your input, anyways. Stephanie
