As a current student in the crna program at Duke it's definitely worth the money! Just the resources available are worth it. but the interview is all day. Though, your actual interview is only 20ish minutes. It definitely is intimating cause you are in front of all the professors, but just be yourself. It's more of a personality based interview. Any questions let me know

Hey my neck of the woods. I'm originally from northwest Ohio, then I moved down here two years ago to work at Duke. But yea any questions you have about area let me know! I can tell all the areas to avoid, all the fun things to do, and if you have a specific type of place you're looking at living let me know I can help you out. I will tell you most places jack up the rates up July and August and usually get filled up very quickly. I'm actually currently in the process of moving to a new apartment since my lease will be ending soon.

Yes, I believe parking for nursing is at Duke East which is about 3ish miles away. Yea rent is pricey here but worth it. If you need ideas of good places let me know! And I believe orientation is middle of August. Personally I would come down in June/July to see the area, there is a lot of fun things to do before we have no life

If you're looking to be in Durham, the area around south point is pretty good (about 15 minute drive) and there are a few decent places off of highway 15-501 between Durham and chapel hill. But any places directly next to Duke campus is either gonna cost you up the butt for rent and like I said not the best area. Parking I wanna say is around $150ish a school year for students. I know I paid $12/month as hospital staff. Parking is pretty bad, we will have to shuttle in, but definitely not as bad as UNC. There is a parking garage directly across from the SON, which is for the hospital that you can park in if your late but that costs $8/day

Brier creek is about 15-20 minutes to campus/downtown Durham and about 20 minutes to downtown raleigh. I will say that traffic on the highways here is horrible especially during rush hour. The nice thing with the brier creek area is you can avoid the highways if need be. But I interviewed back in January

Just came across this. But I will also be starting in Duke's CRNA program for the fall of 2016. I currently live in the raleigh/Durham area so if anyone has questions about good places to live let me know! The is a great area! Lots of great food, craft beer, concerts, etc! I will warn you that rent is expensive here (avg for 1 bedroom is anywhere from $850-1000/month). I would avoid the area around Duke as its not the best area. Most people that live here are in the Brier Creek area of Raleigh.

I too am moving down to North Carolina to start in the new grad program! What position did you get? While down there this past weekend I talked to some locals to get there ideas of place to live. First is to avoid East Durham. Most of theme recommended around Duke campus or downtown area, which has a lot of great apartments. They said to avoid Raleigh unless you like the big city feel. Chapel Hill is nice, but a little more money than Durham. I have a connection down there that I'm waiting to hear back about apartments in Durham. Once I get them, I'll post it to hear or message them to you

I had an interview for Neuro ICU on Monday (4/14) at Duke followed by the shadowing. I thought it was very interesting as I never done shadowing as part of the interview. But it was really cool to meet the nurses and see the unit. Afterwords the manager told me she will let me know in two weeks about the job, and then today (4/16) i got called by the recruiter offering me the job for neuro ICU (so either they really need help, or I did really good on the interview haha). But Durham is definitely not ghetto (just avoid the East Durham), lots of nice houses and apartments around the Duke campus and downtown. I'll be moving from Ohio, anyone here that got a job with Duke pick a day for orientation?
