  1. I am currently on my first travel assignment. I was lucky and was offered a contract at the hospital that was my first choice. At the time of interview I had already applied for and received my license for that state. I am traveling with 5 years experience as a nurse and over 12 years in healthcare. I have been warned that you should not turn down an assignment that is offered, because the hospital may not accept you in the future. With this in mind, I only had my recruiter submit my application to hospitals that I was really interested in working at. This may mean you have to wait a little longer for an offer, but if you have planned and prepared for this you should be okay.
  2. I just received my mass license, (originally licensed in NY), it took about 2 weeks. If you are planning to travel there, the hospitals will not even look at your application until you have an active MA license. In addition, most of the hospitals in Boston require a BSN degree. They have many openings throughout the state. They have a bunch of seasonal contracts near the coast.
  3. I am planning on traveling to houston in the winter. I am interested in hearing about your experience.
  4. I have 5 years emergency room nursing experience, as well as 6 years as a paramedic before that. I am currently working with 3 agencies. I am searching for a contract within 300 miles from home for my first contract. The hospitals in Boston and NYC are particular about the BSN, I'm not sure if that is just because these are emergency contracts or not.
  5. Anyone have trouble obtaining contracts without a BSN? I've noticed the larger hospitals won't even look at my file.
