California BRN Processing Times Poll
I finally got my ATT after writing a very strongly worded letter to the Governor of California on August 11th via his website. I got a call from his assistant on August 12th that she had spoken with their contact at the CA BRN and were able to expedite the processing of my application. I got my ATT within 24hrs! Taking the NCLEX in 10 days woohoo!

California BRN Processing Times Poll
1. Applied for licensure by exam 2. Application filed 05/17/16 3. 12 weeks since I applied 4. Electronic application online 5. Graduated from Saddleback College 05/10/16 6. California resident 7. No hiccups that I know of since I've never been able to get through on the phone 8. I've tried calling and sent emails but have never received a response; I filed a complaint with the DCA, they responded quickly and apparently forwarded my complaint to the CA BRN and that's the last I've heard 9. My acceptance into a BSN program that starts 8/26 will likely be rescinded if I don't have my license or at least a tag date soon Keeping my fingers crossed for all of us [emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

New Grads With Attitude
Beckysue thank you for the kind words. I couldn't agree more that there seems to be this growing sense of entitlement among the "millennials" who are entering the workforce as new RNs and expecting to immediately be given health benefits and weekends off without putting in the hours and experience. It doesn't seem like this new generation values hard work and I'm not sure why either; maybe they've had poor examples to learn from like you said. I'm just glad that my parents were old school and taught me that nothing is handed to you in life, to always work hard and continue to better myself and that respect is earned when you respect others. New Grads With Attitude
I'm a new grad waiting to take the NCLEX, but once I get my first job as an RN, I expect to work nights, weekends, holidays, etc., until I get more experience and prove that I have what it takes to advance in the nursing field. I was brought up to believe that nothing in life is handed to you and hard work, respect for those more experienced and teamwork are the key to success. Maybe because I'm a little older than your typical new grad and have also held down a job since the age of 14, I have developed a strong work ethic. I too have noticed some of my younger classmates who seem a bit naive about what it means to be a new nurse at the bottom of the pecking order. I totally get that textbook nursing is completely different then real world nursing and I can't wait to learn as much as I can from seasoned nurses so I can be the best patient advocate that I can be. I was brought up to value the importance of a strong work ethic and to respect nurses with experience. I honestly can't wait to learn from any nurse, CNA, patient care tech, anyone who can teach me something new everyday that will make me a better nurse. Just wanted to say that there are new grads out there like me that are eager to learn and will work hard to earn the respect of experienced nurses. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

processing delays in California
I'm in the same boat too! Applied in May and still waiting, checking the CA BRN website daily to check if the processing times have been updated. It's beyond frustrating and I'm trying to stay motivated and keep studying but it's getting more difficult with each week that passes. I've called the BRN almost everyday for that past few weeks but have been unable to reach a live person. I sent them an email as well, but there's been no response. Many of my classmates are also still waiting to test, so we've tried to be proactive and have filed formal complaints with the CA BRN, with the department of consumer affairs and even written to our congressman. We just want some answers and hopefully if we can all make enough of a ruckus with the CA BRN, just maybe they'll be motivated to find a solution to the processing delays.

eligibility to test taking forever, feeling discouraged.
What state did you submit your application to? I'm in California and the application process for new grads and those trying to endorse their license to CA is painfully slow. I graduated and applied in early May, paid the CA BRN and Pearson Vue and still no ATT. I have called everyday for the past 8 weeks and have not been able to reach a live person to get some answers. Half of my graduating class has received their ATT and tested, so I know exactly how you feel. I've been studying a bit every day but it's really tough with no end in site. Many of us have filed complaints with the CA nursing board, the department of consumer affairs and some have even written to their congressman to get some answers and hopefully solutions to the excessive delays in California. Try to stay positive and keep reviewing your study materials so when you finally do get your ATT, you'll be ready to rock the NCLEX.
