Concentration vs Concentrating Effect
My class is in the 2nd semester of our Doctorate program. Between our physics and pharmacology class, we are getting conflicting information regarding the difference between the concentration effect and the concentrating effect with gases. We’ve tried asking both instructors but they both seem to have different understanding of these concepts. Does anyone have any advice on how to understand these two concepts and how to differentiate them? Thanks!!

CRNA Admission
I'm in my first semester as an SRNA. I only used the Kaplan review for the GRE, but I heard good things about Manhattan Prep as well. As a new graduate, I think you should start applying when you feel you are very comfortable with working independently in the ICU. Try to soak up as much information and experience as you can. Ask questions, ask to see procedures, ask why you give certain meds for certain reasons. I worked PCCU for a year, transferred to ICU, and got in to school with a year and 5 months experience. Look at school requirements in terms of how many years of experience they want you to have. Go ahead and get an idea of application cycles. Get a CCRN study guide. That was probably the biggest help for me in my interview. Shadow a CRNA, preferably more than once not only because it looks good on an application but also to make sure it's something you want to do.

Future CRNA
I'm 25, married, and am in the first semester of CRNA school. I had been working in ICU for a little over a year and a half at the time of my interview with a 3.96 BSN GPA. For the interview, I would highly suggest a CCRN review book. The interview wasn't bad, but the book helped me out a lot. I'm basically relying on my wife for the next 3 years, along with taking out loans. Start saving your money now, like a strict budget. That's what we've done since I graduated from nursing school in 2016, and we've saved enough to live on one salary while I'm in the program. Best of luck!

I interviewed on Thursday. The personal interview was nice, but the clinical portion was tough. Studying for the CCRN helped me out a lot. Good luck to everyone interviewing this week!!
