  1. I have BSN and I just passed NCLEX, 1yr 4months clinical experience, 3yrs 6months research experience. I'm in New York at the moment. Any employment advice for me please?
  2. Hi Durandx4, I appreciate your concern but I wldn't be so hard on her, I mean we all tend to run low on cash at some point in our lives, it happens to the best of us! I wish I could help really....
  3. Yay! All thanks to God.. Celebration time :)!
  4. Thanks :).. I don't have a Kaplan account, I only bought their textbook via Amazon. I used Saunders, LaCharity and NCSBN ($50/3wks ) fervently. How about trying those?
  5. Thank you Sis.. God is ever faithful!
  6. I guess it takes someone who has used both to answer this question. However, I ll always suggest a new edition over an old one because nursing evolves everyday, there may be some info in the new one which you won't find in the old and no matter how little the information seems, it counts. I used the 6th edition and found it instrumental to my NCLEX success. You may want to the give 6th a shot!
  7. Hadassah, just stay positive and keep praying.. I will keep you in my prayers.. You will soon come here to share your testimony/success story in Jesus name. Amen!
  8. Thanks. Good to know God delivered you.. Congratsss!
  9. Please do, wish you the very best!
  10. I must first acknowledge God for making this a possibility. I prayed like I didn't read n read like I didn't pray, at the end of the day it was basically God's grace. Also, cldn't have imagined NCLEX without allnurses, the team deserves an award from nurses, this site helped a great deal. I prayed for confidence and God granted me all the confidence that I needed, got to the center early, everybody was looking gloomy, had to start cheering people up, lol.. I got 75 tough questions, like 80% SATA (I detested SATA prior to the exam so I was almost crying) but I kept answering and kept speaking in tongue and I reminded God that I didn't have the strength to do it again, I got a lot of 'psychiatry' questions to my amazement, 1 drag n drop, about 3 meds, 1 EKG. By the time I got to 74, I was practically begging the system not to shut down but it did.. I wanted to scream but cldn't, I was weak, I just kept praying but then I kept hearing in my spirit 'WHOSE REPORT WILL YOU BELIEVE, YOU ASKED FOR 75 QUESTIONS AND I GAVE YOU 75.. I had actually prayed to God that I wanted 75 questions, didn't know I would change my mind later, lol (GOD IS GOOD). Behold, I got home and did the Pearson VUE trick and got a good pop up but I wasn't satisfied, waited for 48hrs, paid for quick result and saw 'PASS', for the first time in my life I wept like a baby because I passed, I kept praising God and told everyone who cared to listen that an Angel held my hand all through and picked the correct answers for me because that wasn't me really. Now, the secret, I bought a lot of materials but concentrated on a few. Saunders (6th edition) is a perfect textbook for content, I read 98% of the entire textbook and practiced all the questions 'NOTE; SAUNDERS QUESTIONS ARE MEANT TO TEST YOUR KNOWLEDGE, SO IF YOU ARE ABLE TO ANSWER THE QUESTIONS PROPERLY, YOUR CONTENT IS MOST LIKELY SOUND' I also used Kaplan (strategies and review) textbook but I wasn't really a fan because I felt the questions were unnecessarily tough, I did some of the free online courses and exam and even scored above 80% but it just didn't feel right for me (I practiced all the questions in the textbook and the CD twice though) Please don't sit for NCLEX without buying LaCharity textbook, It's great for prioritization and delegation, I practiced all the questions twice. NCSBN isalso very good for content but please just practice the questions, the notes were not well structured so I slept off each time I attempted to read it. However, I registered for the 3wks course twice and practiced all the questions thrice, it went a long way in boosting my confidence. N.B; I had a jotter where I wrote all the rationales I wasn't familiar with, went over it every now and then. YOU TUBE was a great resource, used it for my EKG, heart sound, topics I kept forgetting e.g ALS, Multiple sclerosis etc.. Above all, I prayed for confidence and God granted me, I prepared for 2 months, slept sometimes for about 5hrs daily and sometimes the whole day when I was really exhausted. After preparing and doing your best, all you need for NCLEX is confidence. Remember Jesus willingly intercedes for us, just go on your knees and ask him for confidence, I advised my reading partner to do this and he did, he also passed. THEREFORE, DO NOT THROW AWAY YOUR CONFIDENCE, IT WILL BE RICHLY REWARDED 'HEBREWS 10:35 BEHOLD, I AM THE LORD GOD OF ALL FLESH; IS THERE ANYTHING TOO HARD FOR ME TO DO? JEREMIAH 32:27 Remember colleagues, 'FEAR' and 'FAITH' have something in common, they both ask us to believe in something we cannot see. I implore you to choose faith over fear! NOTE; I'm a foreign educated nurse who graduated since 2007 with little clinical experience because I was into HIV research, I only prepared for 2months, IF I DID IT, THEN TRUST ME YOU CAN DO EVEN BETTER! ALL THE BEST....
  11. Thanks for the info.. I'm in NYC!
  12. @ pnkgirl25; What's the cost implication of these courses and can you possibly suggest a recognized training resource please?!
  13. Bet you will get some if you google search. Jst stay positive n ignore discouragement n pessimism... I dnt believe u wnt get one even if Boston churns out a billion every yr.. All the best!
  14. Oh ye, I know it's 3 but really do you have to remind me with all these wall clocks.. Besides, my wristwatch functions perfectly!
