Trying to be readmitted
After a couple of months of being dismissed from my nursing program, I have decided to see if I can get readmitted. I have emailed some nursing instructors to write support letters and hopefully I get feedback back. I have also applied to another nursing program that is about 40 minutes from the school where I am which I dont have a problem commuting twice a week. Has anyone been readmitted and failed out before? Were you successful your second time around? What would you say in your formal interview for readmission? Thanks!

Considering Occupational Therapy or Dental Medicine after failing out of nursing
Hello, I have been contemplating other health care professions than just nursing school. I live in the state of Illinois and considering Occupational Therapy or Dental Medicine-- However, I'm not sure the chances of getting into any of these since they have seen I have failed out of a nursing program. The school that I was thinking of getting into is Midwestern University which accepts a 2.75 at the minimum with 2 recommendation letters. Since I have the prerequisites finished, I was hoping they would consider my GPA for those since I got all As on them. Is there a chance for me if they find out I failed out of nursing school? Right now Im in Health Information Management, thinking of raising my GPA through this program, graduating, then applying to these schools. Thanks for your inputs

Plan B for if you Fail/Get Kicked out of Nursing School? I may need help with this.
Hi! I recently got kicked out of my nursing school this recent semester due to failing my clinical portion(my teacher said I was not concerned enough)and felt completely lost for about a couple of weeks before I got back up. I recently applied to the Health Management Program at my school and it is pretty limited too. I dont find out until the first week of June though. I wish you the best of luck!

Just failed out of the nursing program..advice on next step?
hello you are right. i am taking an assessment in June. I also changed my major to health information management, thinking being less involved with people could make me less stressed and more office work.

Chamberlain accept people who have failed out of a program?
Thanks guys for the insight. Im aware it will be a tough program. Nothing you want is easy in life. I feel like from all the evauation and going through a year in nursing school, I feel more familiar with it and if I can get another chance. I would do a lot better. I did not have to take the Hesi to get into my school. I will be relaxing for fall and then go to Chamberlain in Spring or reapply to my nursing program for the spring semester so I don't think I am prepared to go back for the fall until I know I got every help I can get.

Chamberlain accept people who have failed out of a program?
Hello after recently being kicked out of a nursing program, Im taking this summer time reflect and work on my clinical skills. Ill be working a in a doctor's office all summer and get a CNA license since my first semester classes counted as the course. I am also getting therapy to manage my anxiety better in a clinical setting. This fall semester I will be taking easy science classes to raise my GPA back up and graduate with another bacherlors degree this coming December. I know the requirements for Chamberlain is a 2.75 but if I decide to change my career path it will be safer that way. Well Chamberlain in Tinley gave me a call and told me I meet the requirements and told me I need to pass the HESI and my GPA was right on point. I even mentioned that I failed my nursing program and are willing to work around that. I feel like they are most lenient since the campus is one of the new campuses in Illinois right now. Does anyone know if they ever let people who have gone through the same situation as me?

Chamberlain Tinley Park
Hey everyone! how hard was the HESI test? I literally only have 3-4 weeks to study for it. And I applied to the one in Spring. They are willing to accept me even if I did not pass a previous nursing program. Any tips? How well is the school

Accelerated Program after failing out of nursing program?
Hello, Yes I can reapply to my school, but need to have special circumstances and reflect really deep on what I did wrong and what I will do to improve my confidence. I know students who failed out of my school and still got into other nursing programs. that's why I was thinking of the HIM major. Im not sure if that will be any different.
-
Accelerated Program after failing out of nursing program?
Yeah the only school I know for sure so far is willing to take me in is Chamberlain College of Nursing after I asked them if it was still possible to get back in after an unsuccessful nursing program. I also know a couple of students who failed out of the program at school was able to successfully enter to other nursing schools and flourish. Im still figuring out my options. As for reapplication--I have until June 1 for fall admission again...Im thinking long and hard about it.

Accelerated Program after failing out of nursing program?
Hello everyone, I know your all probably tired of seeing me but needing more advice and questions. I was planning on finishing with a bachelor's degree in a major called General Studies and possibly applying to an Accelerated nursing program in the spring. Although it is hard now since they will know I struggled as an undergrad. As anyone ever tried this option before? Has it worked out? I know being traditional will be harder, but what about accelerated? I just looked into Lewis University in Illinois, but just saw students are not elgible if a F,D,W came from another nursing course. Also, I was thinking of changing my major to Health Information Management...has anyone been in this situation? I still want to be involved in healthcare since nursing might possibility not be the career for me.

Advice..should I stilll take my final?
Yes. I wouldve passed the remaining nursing classes if I take my finals. Then if I were to be readmitted into the program, those classes would be complete. However, I'm not sure if it is even worth it if I didnt get back in and had to go to another school and start over.

Advice..should I stilll take my final?
Hello I recently got kicked out of the nursing program 2 weeks ago due to a failed clinical. However, I still have to finish the last two finals coming up this this friday and monday. I've been in the hospital for a week and just got out. These are my options.... My GPA will go down to 3.2 regardless from a 3.47 since the clinical was from a 7 credit class. I could either take my finals and finish with credits-- however I'm not determined how well I will do on both of them. One of them will be open book(Research--88.66) The other one will be comprehensive--maternal-infant.(82.66) I know even with a B in maternal and a possible A in research it will be only still be a 3.28. or my instructor gave me the options to have them incomplete which will make my GPA remain a 3.2 and I can reapply and take all the classes again Has anyone been in this situation? Is this worth it?

Just took my KAT test...whew!
Does the KAT test still required even if we are transferring from another nursing school? I failed out of my program and seeing if I can transfer to this school. My GPA is above a 3.0 still. I dont know how hard the KAT test is.

Just failed out of the nursing program..advice on next step?
thanks for your insight! Its really encouraging to see your report! I was was considering another nursing program or reapplying. But the problem is I don't know how I can handle it if I ended up failing out again. Its just a lot of time and money wasted..not to mention my GPA is screwed again with more "Fs" Right now, I don't know if I should another health care consider like health information management...since its not direct patient care. I really feel like I should consider before I can even get myself to go back to nursing since my problem was clinical!

Just failed out of the nursing program..advice on next step?
Thanks everyone! that's really supportive I'm gonna take this summer to figure out if nursing is still even a right fit for me or not, or I have to learn to fix my issues of why I did a bad job in clinical. I have applied to other nursing schools..some are in the spring...I'm not sure if they will accept me from seeing an "F" on my transcript. I just know people get accepted to other schools. My GPA will be decent for about 3.2(it dropped from a 3.48 sadly after this semester ends).

Just failed out of the nursing program..advice on next step?
Hello Im glad to know it is possible. How did you pick yourself up again? How long did you wait until you decided to come back to your program? Was it the same program? I want to see if I can get readmitted, but I feel like I need time to think because this is all just too emotional at the moment.

Just failed out of the nursing program..advice on next step?
Just failed out of my nursing program. It seems im so incapable of applying my skills in real life. I have no idea what I want to do now. I feel like I have some ADHD disorder because most of my comments consist of me being single focused where its hard for me to tell what is going on in my environment, to not being able to focus..I couldnt even do basic calculations with the medication administration my head or I just get really forgetful. I may have a learning disability I am really not aware of. I have not had much work experience except working in Burger King-and I almost got fired there. I was thinking of going to LPN school, or health information management. I dont know how much harder they are. I dont even know if I should even take off of school right now. This is all too much to take. 2 years of my hard work down the drain. I'm just really lost right now.

Good essay for readmission?
Yes I am a second semester nursing student. The last time we had a course on medication administration was a year ago when I was in med-surg one. We have profiencies in lab that we must pass before we can do it in clinical. I passed the med admin and we just started IV stuff this semester. There is no such thing as a success plan as my school. We go to clinical to learn and improve on skills. They expect us to know our skills and how to do them after we pass proficiency. The only problem was I had some lack of confidence and show I am unsure of things. It really depends on the instructor we have. Some teachers usually warn students that they are failing and give them what they need to improve to pass before the end of clinical rotation. My clinical instructor told me I was showing incompetence 2 weeks before the end of clinical rotation. And it came to skills which I lacked confidence in and medication administration when it came to taking them out of the cart along with insulin. I realize that I didn't review insulin administration for almost over a year. We are not allowed to pass any meds without the instructor. Once we start our clinical rotation we are suppose to be able to know what the drug does and doing the right dosage. I don't know if that helps at all. But yeah since I have my evaluation tomorrow...ill go in there and try to be positive as possible and show her I care. I don't know if that would miraculously work.

Good essay for readmission?
Hello, I am a 2nd semester student. My grades are fine in the semester. I have decent B's in two of my classes. One C in my med-surg. My GPA Is currently a 3.48(if I fail med-surg due to clinical it will be 3.1). The first half of the semester I had a different teacher who did a midterm evaluation on me. She said I was doing okay and with time my confidence should approve. She put a couple of NI(need improvement) with mostly satisfactory(which I need all for final eval) The first day I had the new teacher I did make a good impression on her the first day since a nurse handed me a drug and left me in the room with it to give. My instructor was ****** that I did not look it up first. My mistake. Then kept prompting me about the IV bag set up. The next week, I was going to diagnostic so I didn't have any patient care that day and only had to write a paper. She sat me down this week, asked me what my previous instructor told me and I told her she just said I need to improve my confidence. The clinical instructor followed this and said that I need to stop looking for reassurance so much since it shows Im imcompetent. I told her I was unaware of this and determined to improve in those areas. Then went on to tell me what to expect the next semester and that was it. The next week I felt I made a better impression by getting what I needed to get done. The only comment she said to me was I did things too safe and do things that seem uneccessary (overtwisting on a cap of morphine, wearing gloves all the time even though I wont be exposed to fluid or blood--I wanted to be extra safe), also told me I need to make sure I have all the medications when I walk into the room. The last day of clinical- I made numerous mistakes with medication. 1. I checked the patient's accucheck----it was above normal. I didn't understand the sliding scale much and told me she expected me to know this but explained the concept to me anyway. 2. There was another insulin due later that I was suppose to give during the patient's meal, but unaware since I thought everything had to go to the sliding scale(sliding scale said I didn't need a correctional dose). She explained how to look it up in the MAR since I never administered insulin before. 3. When I was taking out the medications from the cart, I was looking at what I wrote down from the MAR instead of actually looking at the MAR 4. Forgot to count the ace inhibitor taking it out-told me I wasn't thinking and made me go and count it again. 5. Mistakenly thought I should let the instructor check my insulin dose in the room instead at the nurses station. She checked it away before we went into the room. 6. Injected the insulin too slowly. 7. Said I made a med error from not remembering if I gave ferrous sulfate or not because the scanner can sometimes not pick up what I scanned. 8. Lastly, she informed that I needed to follow up on the baby aspirin that the Pyxis failed to take out. These were numerous mistakes I made and that's why she is emailing me because she is concerned. I know what I did was potentially unsafe. The only thing I can ask her is to have another clinical day to see if I can improve but I doubt it. You have 2 strikes to fail classes in the program and then your out of the program. I failed one class my first semester and this might be my second one because of clinical. :/

Made a Med Error in Clinical.. :(
