  1. Bush Administration Proposes Cut in Veteran Benefits

So are Supreme Court appointees, declarations of war, and funding for the wars so declared. .....You can't pick which ones you want to be responsible for depending of pulic opinion polls afterwards. They are all accountable collectively.
  2. Military vs civilian nursing curicculum?

All, I'm a 91W in the reserves planning my next career move as I approach 60 college credits. I have been to a civillian nursing program but found the dominance of psychosocial curicculum to be disapointing. There is so much more to being a nurse ...
  3. Military vs civilian nursing curicculum?

Thanks for the link, Since I have more school to do, an age waiver is the thing. Everything I've seen says that the Guard can only waive up to 35 y/o for a commission. A warrant officer goes up to 46(I'm 44)but you must complete WOCS before 46. I w...
  4. Bush Administration Proposes Cut in Veteran Benefits

Kevin, Bob, Excellent response to political terrorism. Congress is ultimately responsible for funding our military anyway. If the troops don't have body armor or anything else, blame the in-fighting in Congress to try to weasel pork onto the bill. ...
  5. Military vs civilian nursing curicculum?

I guess I had the wrong impression. I thought I had a straight-forward question. I tried to not put anything too controversial in it but wanted to provide a little background information. The only one that posted did so because they took exception ...
  6. Age Discrimination

46 1/2? Where can I look at that info? The Army Guard extended PA to 39 y/o and I'm 44 this year. I didn't think they would have different standards for nurses since they all have to pass OBC anyway. Your height/weight should pass bf analysis. Hav...
  7. Age Discrimination

BTW, I'm an Army National Guard medic. It took me a 1 1/2 years of training through injuries to get to this standard. I was at 235,20 push-ups and 14 sit-ups when I started. I now pass bf analysis at around 210 and do better than some soldiers hal...
  8. Age Discrimination

There is a waiver for anything but you must be to physical standards. Example: I'm 5'11" and my weight limit is 192 lb. Since I am an older male and have muscle, I haven't seen 192 in about 15 years. The Army National Guard uses bf analysis to decl...
  9. Military vs civilian nursing curicculum?

Well, Am I banned yet? Speaking one's mind is usually fatal in nursing. I tried to post a more specific question so I could avoid off-topic discussion but I can't post a new thread. I understand why nurses would feel protective of nursing theory but...
  10. Military vs civilian nursing curicculum?

BTW, Is there such a thing as a military nursing school? If there isn't, why has nobody mentioned that? It would explain the lack of response to the original question. I often take for granted what I perceive as obvious as being automaticly included...
  11. Military vs civilian nursing curicculum?

Caring for and about patients is not really all that complicated. Not only would I make a good nurse but I would excel apparently. I take knowledge for granted that it takes nursing programs years to teach. I see no reason for such tedious focus ...
  12. Military PAs

While we're on this subject, I think we'll agree on this - whose bright idea was it to allow folks to FLY on civilian aircraft in uniform? These people were not attaches or anything - they were returning from basic (you know how they stand out!). You...
  13. Military PAs

Carolina, Yes, I agree, I am overstating. I was trying to set a tone. Certainly saying that Army PAs work in tents is not going to give any useful information to an Ear. Certainly if they ever get half a clue and learn that mortars can be aimed an...
  14. Military PAs

There is nowhere "safe" for a uniformed member of the military.
  15. Military PAs

With all due respect; so do the insurgents. They want the most valued targets. An officer is certainly on that list.
  16. Military PAs

While I'm thinking about it, Keep in mind that nursing and PA programs are miles apart in what gets stressed in the curicculum. I don't have experience with military nursing but I'm privy to the curicculum in civillian nursing programs. If it's diff...
  17. Military PAs

BTW, If your head explodes from trying to shift through the military site a recruiter should be happy to explain it and give you a free t-shirt and all.
  18. Military PAs

I'm an Army medic. The training of an Army PA is sought after because of its clinical rotations. Besides being free of debt you will gain some experience that civillian programs can't offer you. There is no "front". Being in the military is hazar...
  19. Wrist, auto BP cuffs. Use one? Have advice?

BTW, ALL responses about the wrist cuffs have been negative. I think most errors are dependant on the technique of a layperson using them but the wrist models are consistently reported dysfunctional by laypersons and professionals alike.
  20. Sorry for not lurking before posting but I have a need for input before going out of the country in 3 weeks and I will be stuck with whatever i've got. I'm an Army medic that needs to take BPs in a noisy, chaotic enviroment in the field. I wear hear...
  21. Wrist, auto BP cuffs. Use one? Have advice?

Crystal, Thanks for the response. Would you please get the name/model of that cuff for me? I don't know what would be available when I go to buy one so I need all the choices I can get. Thanks.
  22. Wrist, auto BP cuffs. Use one? Have advice?

Thanks for the intel You are the only person that has given me a lead so far. I'm going outside the country in 2 1/2 weeks with whatever I've got at that time. Most responses are against auto pressures saying that they are unreliable. I get "they...
  23. Wrist, auto BP cuffs. Use one? Have advice?

TriageRN, I appreciate your response and I want to give you some insight as to the( without wanting to sound arrogant) skills needed to operate as an Army medic on a daily basis. Most of my time is spent as a triage contact between those medics assig...
  24. Wrist, auto BP cuffs. Use one? Have advice?

Thanks for the response LPN_mn, I guess this sort of thing is completely uncommon. I used the search function and didn't come across any posts with this topic. This seems like a busy BB so plenty of people have seen it i guess. Let me know if you'r...
