So I have to know what you ended up doing...I too am currently struggling between selecting a job at an adult MICU (teaching facility, level 1 trauma center, fantastic reputation, will pay for grad school) vs. PICU (teaching facility, level 1 trauma center, reputation for iffy management, will not pay for grad school but some tuition reimbursement). I feel like I am more interested in PICU, but I loved my clinical rotations in this adult MICU and it seems like a better organization to work for. Does going into PICU straight out of school box me into pediatrics? Should management/resources/orientation in an adult MICU be my top priority straight out of school over getting to specialize in PICU?
