  1. There was one disease I didnt know, Mernier's Disease...I answered it by looking at all of the choices...There were 3 answers that were similar so I chose the one that was not similar. I figured that those three couldnt be right because they all meant the same thing, so I just picked the other one... Apparently the average passing nurse gets 50% wrong, so they know you wont know all of the questions. It was really easy to answer a lot of questions once i knew all of the electrolytes...especially what the result was on the body...Also, I had to know what a patients legs would look like with peripheral arterial disease..It was a check all that apply question so I would go over that..Here are some other topics I had: -Torch syndrome on a baby -Thromboguard applications (in the morning, dont need them when asleep) -Burn Patient (remember to think his airway is compromised) -Addisons Disease, and Graves Disease -laryngectomy -toxoplasmosis: immunocompromised are at risk -hepatitis B (dont let patient eat with same utensils) -who is at most risk for Hep A: sanitation workers is the answer -a daycare center prevents infection by: disposing of soiled clothes and putting them in a plastic bag is the answer -a question on the most common side effect of Prozac: I put insomnia? -Tuberculosis standard precaution questions: gown, mask, gloves -Internal Pelvic radiation question -Turners Syndrome -Curlings Ulcer/Peptic Ulcer -umbilical cord w/ 1 artery and 1 vein was the answer for: which one is abnormal -Coumadin nutritional needs: Vitamin K maintenance with green leafy veggies -Heparin: PTT -know about uric acid stones; cholethiasis; strain urine, drink fluids: FIRST ASK ABOUT PAIN!-answer -continuous bladder irrigation for BPH: study about the procedure, one question asked if there was an incission, know that they cant do heavy lifting because of risk for hemorrhage -urine specfiic gravity: know when it increases and decreases -know expected findings for acute renal failure -one question asked if you could put a measles and mumps patient in the same room-i wasnt sure and I said no -osteoporosis risk for those over 65: it asked who is at most risk and how to prevent it -water seal chamber: should be continuously bubbling -Myasthenia Gravis -one question asked which is true: the answer was that with a miscarriage the products of conception may still be inside the woman -Pernicious anemia: lack of B12 leads to RBC breakdown and poor development of the new RBCs; give B12 injections long term -which of the following is a sign of true labor -if a patient has right hemiparesis: obviously place items and approach the patietn from the left side! -thats the answer -know the purpose of chelation therapy for lead poisoning -one question of cystic fibrosis: can lead to GI problems related to pancreatic involvment: thats the answer (GI) -know that after liver and lung surgery you place the patient on the side that was operated on: this is because the liver requires pressure to prevent hemorrhage and the lung that was removed is just empty space and needs to fill with fluid to heal correctly -know that clonus: contraction of muscles that is irregular is often due to decreased calcium levels! -i had one question on the opiod reversal drug: narcan -know what anesthesia impairs parts of the body: i had a question that asked what will happen to the patient after a groin repair: he wouldnt be able to move his legs for a while was the answer -one question on glomerulonephritis: which is a symptom of it: it is often caused by a recent strep infection -thoracentesis: what is the risk; hypovolemia, pneumothroax -know glaucoma and cataracts; they asked me both -COPD: dont give too much Oxygen; they will lose their natural drive to breath -phantom limb pain: know how to position a patient after leg amputation: first elevant stump on pillow, then elevate head of bed, then turn patient prone because it stretches out muscle and prevents contractures -one question on tardive dyskinesia: tongue protrusion and facial movements -treat with benadryl or cogentin -Finally: know your nutrition needs with: 1. renal failure: know acute and then long term 2. chrons disease and ulcerative colitis 3. diabetes 4. kidney stones i hope this helps, it is literally EVERY topic i had...I got my ATT very late on Friday the 16th and ended up taking the test on Sat the 17th at 8 am. so i cant exactly say i studied or was prepared...probably the reason why i got 265 questions..but i still passed...you will do fine if you know this stuff..even if you dont get the same questions they will ask these topics in a different way...erin
  2. I had the same questions on my test too!! people study these because they are practically the same just differernt wording for everyone!!
  3. I didnt take a review, I just looked over the Kaplan Review Book and Princeton Review Book...know the rationale for the answers, most were asked on the test just in a different way...the Kaplan Book really points out what the NCLEX thinks is important, so I knew every rational and did fine on the test...If you get past 100 questions you will most likely go to 265...This doesnt mean you will fail, they do look at every question up to 265 and determine where you are compared to national averages...It is so important to look at every question if you get more than 100 questions because each one counts!!
