I understand what they are meant for, but Ugh...hate the phones! Always calls at the worst times, and usually it is nothing important or that cannot be handled by someone else. I could go on for days grumbling about this...but I will spare you.

I have always enjoyed jeopardy type games...for example...(you) Generally the first thing that happens when a patient is experiencing neurological problems...(them) What is LOC changes? Or something similar. This may be a little harder for the students depending on the material you wish to present. Or you could do a timed type game where you do teams (or individuals) and see who can answer the most questions correctly in the shortest amount of time. Just a thought...Good luck!

Hello ladies... I just wanted to make a comment about PCCTI. I recently went to the oak brook campus for a job interview. This program has had a total haul over the last months. A new DON was hired who has much experience and is trying to revamp the program. Because of the improvements she is trying to make, everything is still adjusting. It is a relatively new program...but they are improving what was once a not so great situation. (The same can be said for a lot of nursing schools). Also, please take into consideration that nursing school is very stressful, and will always require independent study to get the material down. When I was in my undergraduate program I often felt the same way...like I was getting no assistance. You are presented with the material, but generally it is up to you to absorb it and really really get it down. Nursing programs are definitely not spoon fed-anywhere. Some people have better clinical experiences or enjoy a teacher's teaching style a little better than anothers but that can be expected anywhere. Also, as for the clinical circumstances. Even in my RN clinicals we did basically CNA things. This is because you are working under someone else's license and it is up to the discretion of that nurse what she will allow you to do. I do agree that at one point meds should be allowed to be given with supervision just so you can get the experience...but honestly, with most clinical sites being nursing homes now days...there is not much else to do (with the exception of customer service, hygiene matters, and wound care). Well, sorry for the long post but good luck ladies. It will be a challenge no matter what school you attend. Nursing school is NO JOKE!
