  1. I attend Maryville's online post masters certificate program. I am in adult primary, but I know they have a psych certificate as well. From the information I have read, they accept previous degrees and require only clinical for the speciality. Of course they will have to review all your previous courses. Once I graduate with my adult primary if I decided to go back to complete FNP, I would only need to take the clinical courses in peds and women health. Does that make sense?
  2. paujos--Good luck to you! Nursing is a wonderful field to work in!!
  3. I was in the same boat...but back in 1995. The ADN at community college was very cheap, but well-respected program. There was a 1 year waiting list I was on. That would have been 3 years of my life. Since I had ALL my prereq's,I applied to my local private college, which was only going to take me 3 years to complete my BSN. I went for the BSN--$35k later--NO REGRETS!! This was at a time that ADN's were hired easily in hospitals...but when I was hired (even back then) they were only hiring BSN grad's. I took out students loans but was ok with that since my pay as a new grad was 57K. It's VERY cumbersome to go back for your BSN after graduating with your ADN. Many of my friends went down that road, and they all wished they would have just done the BSN from the start. Good Luck!
  4. Mollysdream, thats a bummer. I heard they are VERY selective. Have you checked out Frontier?? I heard good things about them. Also look into University of Texas (multiple locations). Both are reasonably priced..... I applied to Robert Morris U, (education) so I don't know much about their NP program. Oh, and look at St. Joseph's in Maine, too. Just some suggestions...I hope it works out for you :)
  5. Sorry I was responding to jdub05. Mollysdream, keep us posted about Clarkson. Sounds like you may be hearing good news soon!
  6. I am so sorry Clarkson denied you. That sucks. Have you looked at Creighton University? They are a little bit more expensive, but you have time to apply...(June 15th deadline). If you get accepted....you could always just take a few of the classes, and keep applying and transfer Creightons' classes into another program if you find it too costly to complete the degree there. I think the tuition is $780/credit. Good luck and keep us posted.
  7. It sounds like the information packet that was sent was the same thing I received. Folder with info about all the MSN programs. Not acceptance letters.
  8. When I was still an applicant (lol) they told me I would hear on April 15th.
  9. They did say they would refund the $35. I am glad you re-checked with them about your state. I have had contact with a few graduates of the NP program and they had nothing but excellent things to say about the school and program. I wish you the very best in your journey. I was able to apply to another program in PA...so fingers crossed, this one will work out :)
  10. Responses I received via email. Clarkson College has aimed to offer online education in various states throughout the nation, but specific state requirements have made it cost prohibitive or unreasonable at this time. Due to recent changes within your state's guidelines, Clarkson College is no longer able to offer your program of choice to residents of your state. With this in mind, Clarkson College is now unable to accept your application for admission to our MSN program. Unfortunately, the Board of Nursing does not have the final say in this matter but rather the laws governing online education in the state of Oregon. The Board of Nursing may approve us but the state has requirements / fees that make it difficult for colleges outside of the state to enroll students who reside in Oregon. We have certainly had students in our programs that lived in Oregon in the past. However, the law has changed to make things more difficult / costly for colleges in our situation.
  11. Update: Clarkson College does not have their act together. I applied to their MSN online program. I was told yesterday via email, that I could not apply to their program because they could not offer online nursing to an Oregon resident. This comes after multiple conversations and emails about the program and clinicals. ***** I had researched this school before applying they even have a contract with Oregon Board of Nursing (non-oregon school approved for clinical placements in Oregon). Feeling SUPER annoyed and disappointed.

  13. Yes...and let me know if you hear anything. I wonder if the FNP track is more competitive? You may possibly hear sooner?
  14. I received a phone call last week (they had a question about my start date) and I confirmed summer start. They said I would be hearing something on April 15th.
  15. I am nervous about online schools in general. I know it may be a unfounded nervousness. As far as WGU...I get the competency based thing. But...does everyone that graduates have a 3.0? if it is pass/fail, is the pass= to a 3.0? I'm confused.
