Tips/Advice for starting LPN school?
NotAllThoseWhoWander you are so right about the attitudes tip. We had orientation and there were so many students that were in the RN program last semester in our new class. And the instructor stated that was the reason some are repeating and had to step down to the lpn level. Like 20 of them. I thought it was going to only be the 12 people that came to registration in December. But I was surprised when I walked into orientation almost 50 students total.

Tips/Advice for starting LPN school?
Hello everyone, I also start class on this coming Monday. We had orientation on yesterday and boy was it a lot of information to go over from 8 a.m. to after 2 o'clock. But it was well worth it. We were given our reading assignments of 4 chapters and told to be ready come Monday because they start lecturing on the 1st day of class. I started reading last night. We didn't start with the first chapters they choose 4 chapters from all over the book for us to start out with. And also, we were told the nervousness we are experiencing is a norm for nursing students. Good luck everyone and let's aim to finish on time and conquer what we are all called to do. That is to care and help heal the ones that depend on us.

Graduate LPN!!!!
So true, I'm hungry for it. Just a tad bit nervous because I've been working so hard for this for a long time. I love taking care of people. But with faith I God said this was my timing. 8 years of trying to get where I'm at now. But congrats again.

RN or LPN?
Like someone stated, out weigh your pros and cons. I too got accepted into two schools, but had to choose between the two. I chose lpn because one I'm a self paying student with a husband and five children, my three oldest are teenagers 17, 14, 15. AND my two youngest are 9 & 11. Second, I'm so ready for a career change. In my area depending on where you work some Lpn's make the same as others depending on the employment. I figure I can work in a nursing home for a year or two before going back to school for one more year to get my RN. What I did was got all my preq's out of the way for my RN when I go back. So, out weigh your pros and your cons.

How do I start my own Private duty nursing?
Going this route you want need certification. Just willing to see after. VA clients in a home setting. Everything medical wise is handled through the VA. The doctors, nurses, and social worker is all through them. No middle man. Go talk with someone at your local VA about the requirements. I haven't gotten this far yet because I want to obtain my nursing license first to do other things along with this. Trying to tackle one task at a time. But I do know several people that does this and they have no medical background at all.

No, rent a house and make sure it fall within the VA guidelines. Hire people that are like sitters that don't have to be cna certified. The only training they would have to do is like so many hours of safety, must have CPR, and any other training you would require them to have. You really don't need a RN or LPN because all the orders will be coming from VA themselves. Something sort of like a group home for Gets because they can't be left unattended. Medication and what other services will come from the VA your business is primarily a place to keep an eye on them from harming themselves or others. You take them to doctor visits or whomever you appointments that's working for you. I say, look for someone that's retired or on a fix income that doesn't require a whole lot of wage or a college student looking for partime work. You must provide meals, and take them out for a movie, shopping. Nothing extravagant just showing they are having activities. I'm not sure of the ropes of getting started just yet because I'm working on getting my nursing licensed. My friend is a nurse in the mental health clinic at the VA and she states there are plenty of individuals that have contracts with the VA that does this. The pay is great.

Denied at AUM
See if Wallace in Selma is able to help you also. I just got accepted into their Lpn program for the Spring 2016 class, but they also have a RN program for two years. Deadline for fall 2016 is June 1st and that 2.5 will get you in, all you have to do is score a 45 or above on the Teas to get in. The Actual score to get in is a 50 but I've seen students get in with a 45. I made a 48 on the Teas test and was asked if I would like to apply to the RN but chose the lpn first. And they are a good nursing school to attend. Look up Alabama board of nursing and see their pass rate on the nclex exam.

Also, look into doing VA clients. That's what I'm looking into doing once I finish nursing school, actually you don't have to be a nurse to do that. My friend works at the VA and there are many people whom does this. Start off with 1 home and 3 vets, these are mental health vets that suffer from mental issues that can't live alone, can't be left unsupervised, or too much for family to handled. The income is great. With the being VA related, it doesn't require all the guidelines state would require.

how to pass time while waiting to be accepted
Yes, I was super nervous, while waiting to see if I got in. Still am, because I don't want to mess up . So far, things have been working in my favor, I'm a self paying student, my financial aid ran out, so I will be paying out of pocket. Found someone who doesn't want to sell her books but is willing to let me borrow them instead. God is good, I'll keep you all in my prayer for your decision. Let me know how things came out in your favor.

how to pass time while waiting to be accepted
The school I'm applying to is very easy to get into. There is no waiting list. As long as you have completed your prerequisites, taken the teas test, and your gpa is at least a 2.5 or more you are in. The trick is that you must pay attention and pass your classes to stay in. They are one of the top schools here in Alabama but if you don't keep up you will flunk out. The deadline is near so hopefully by or before thanksgiving I should know something.

how to pass time while waiting to be accepted
How do you pass time while waiting to be accepted into the LPN program? I finished all my prereq's this summer and have turned in my application to the program. The only thing is that the deadline isn't until November 1st., all I do is think about getting in all day long, as well as, feeling like crying. What must I do to pass time?
