  1. There is a great podcast, by Dr.Steve Carroll, called EM Basic Podcast. There is an episode on anaphylactic reactions and he covers the concentrations and routes for Epi. I hope this helps. Anaphylaxis Part 1- Diagnosis and Treatment | EM Basic
  2. Hello everyone! My name is Laura, I was just accepted to the USF DNP- Family program about 3 weeks ago. Congratulations to everyone that got it! I'm excited to meet all of you! :-) I have a question regarding the part-time schedule. I am unable to register for classes since I am waiting for my immunization paperwork to USF to go through. Does anybody know what days classes take place on campus? Any info would be great! Thank you!!
  3. Hey obpyum, You don't have to only buy K-Swiss shoes. As long as your shoes are all white sneakers you should be okay.
  4. Hey! _zoubisoubisou_ Explained it perfectly. For Pharm, I studied the PowerPoint slides and used them to answer questions from a study guide that was given a couple of days before the test. Use whatever you feel will help you learn the different classes of meds. I created charts and several mnemonics to help with memorization. I would suggest buying Mosby's Pharmacology Notecards if you are a visual learner. I still use this as a reference today. Once you start clinical rotation your preceptor will make you complete medication flashcards as well. Drug math wasn't really taught well during class. It was more of a review. I taught myself with the drug math textbook that is "required" for the course. It definitely helps out. If you are still not sure how to solve a drug math problem FSU CON has a tutor available on certain days. Also your professors are very welcoming and really enjoy helping students out, never hesitate to reach out to them for help.
  5. Hey ashg2015! I am not sure if the Accelerated Nursing Spring 2015 schedule will reflect our Fall 2014 schedule. Last I heard FSU CON was trying to double the size of the program so there may be some changes. We had 24 students in our cohort, I believe they are going for 40 students next year. Our first semester consisted of 4 classes: Foundations (with lab and clinicals at a nursing home), Vulnerable Populations (with Psych and Community clinical rotation), Pharmacology, and Health Assessment (with lab). We had several skill check offs for Foundation lab such as sterile gloving, foley caths, NG tubes. Health Assessment lab consisted of focused assessments such as cardiovascular, respiratory, etc. The program is pretty intense; however, it is absolutely doable. Be organized (I had two calendars), support your classmates (they will become your second family) and get to know your professors! Most importantly take time for yourself!
  6. Hello all, my name is Laura. I graduated from the FSU Accelerated Nursing Program in August 2015. If you all have any questions or concerns about the program and its curriculum please feel free to ask! :-) :-) :-)
  7. I was place on the alternate list as well, however I declined it. I decided about 2 weeks ago that I am going to go to the FSU Accelerated Nursing Program no matter what USF's decision was. FSU is giving more scholarship/grant money and the cost of living is cheap! Good luck to everyone in your program! Thank you for responding to my topic! I greatly appreciate it!
  8. My status changed from "applied" to "committee" as well. Good luck to everyone!!
  9. Hey cudasandy, I have a couple of questions about the FSU Nursing Program, can you message me? For some reason I cannot message you.
  10. I live next to UCF in a house. The cheapest I ever paid for my rent was $280 since I had a smaller room and shared a bathroom. I had lived in a house with 3 other girls and we shared 4/2. I'm hoping it will be somewhat cheap over at USF as well. I'm from the Fort Lauderdale area as well (Pembroke Pines) it gets really expensive over there. :-/
  11. Oh I had no idea USF is cheaper than UCF. How do you like USF? Is the area cheap to live in? Cost of living another big deciding factor for where I'll go (Of course getting admitted more so than that lol).

  13. Aw no! If you covered the main topics that needed to be addressed then I think you should be fine! I wrote two full pages for the application, I wrote 5 paragraphs. I had my co-workers read and critique it. It helps to hear other people's POV of your essay. I applied yesterday 5/21/14, I already sent all of my transcripts so let see what they say! :-) Good luck to everyone! Did you guys apply to other schools?? I applied to UCF but they denied me, however I got into FSU's accelerated program.
  14. Yes I did, I finally finished my essay today. I'm so happy I'm done with the essay. I am a little nervous to hear back from USF!
  15. Hey everybody, My name is Laura I just recently got accepted to the FSU Accelerated Nursing Program; however, I am applying to the USF Accelerated Nursing Program for Fall 2014. I am just looking at my options since USF is a little closer to my family in South FL and (most importantly) I heard the program is great! I want to know if anybody is applying for the USF Accelerated Nursing program for Fall 2014. I am currently finishing up my application essay. Any advice from USF nursing students in the USF accelerated program? I am looking forward to hearing from all of you! Laura
  16. Hey everybody! I cannot reply to private messages on this website. It says that I haven't posted enough to get "Private Messaging." You can email me if you would like at: [email protected]. Or find me on Facebook: Laura Frances BTW Congratulations to all who got accepted! Let our journey begin!!
  17. Hey everyone! My name is Laura, I got accepted to FSU's Accelerated Nursing Program. I am so excited! I graduated from UCF with Honors in Psychology in May 2013. I wrote a thesis titled, "Gender Roles and Perceived Physical Attractiveness." My overall GPA is around a 3.6, my science GPA is 3.67 (I am currently finishing APII in April), my Nursing pre-requisite GPA (SYG, DEP, etc) is 3.5. I was a Volunteer UCF Hunger and Homelessness Committee member, I planned and executed charity events on/off campus. I am a lifetime member of Psi Chi Honor Society, I was Treasurer for the 2012-2013 school year. I have been working at an eye doctors office for more than a year. I am looking for a roommate as well for my year stay at FSU. I am waiting to hear a reply from UCF's Accelerated Program, but I am so excited to (potentially) be a Seminole!! My Facebook name is: Laura Frances, message me if you had gotten accepted! I would love to chat with you!!
