  1. Agree with the above quote and Ill add that Nippising and Centennial College/ Ryerson are the only bridging online programs in Ontario. The 5 years online it takes is in itself, outdated especially for those of us with experience. Sad seeing as big this province is that more schools haven't taken this on. The demand is huge with waitlists at the aforementioned being long. Athabasca is the next logical step at this point. I'm not sure about bridging in the U.S as I can't afford to take more time off for school and would enjoy the online aspect.
  2. I have applied, but have been waitlisted. I have heard the program is heavy, but can be done in 3 yrs as opposed to 5yrs if your marks are high enough. I found this thread and "stocktraderandnurse" says a lot of what I have also heard.
  3. Hi "amoLucia," Thank you for your replies, and sorry for the lateness on this one. The question related back to the 12 determinants of health (Canada) and how each one or all lumped in, would affect a homeless person, or someone with an addiction. Example - which ones deal with anxiety provoking situations? (poverty, poor housing etc.,) would bring on anxiety, etc. Which ones deal with things out of our control? (culture...what does this mean?...potential discrimination, difficulty practicing your beliefs - very well documented lately in the U.S. and Canada). Not sure I figured it all out, but I sent it in, and now waiting on the (scary) end mark.
  4. Wasn't my question and I had no idea what to write, after many hours, I eventually figured it out and got the assignment sent in.
  5. Hi all, I am a new nurse, and I am currently undertaking "Nursing Mental health." I have been racking my noodle on some of the assignments lately and the following question isn't an exception. I don't want my homework done for me, just need a kick in the butt to get me started - help? "How would you normally assess a person to identify a mental illness? We may not have the luxury of sitting down with a homeless person or a young person, yet there are many ways that you can assess the person through observation, other resources (with permission) and questions….i.e. difficulty in school."
  6. I'm a new & unemployed nurse, so I can't say much, but I can say that charting for someone else, much less not seeing it done up here in Ontario is a "neddy-no-no." I know in school we were taught to delegate when possible- it's never easy doing everything yourself. I hope your experiences will improve.
