Debate: Nurses attitude,a contributing factor towards low patients turnout in rural areas
"Low patient turn-out" is a reference to compliance/fu appts, etc. There are many reasons for that: low socioeconomic level, lack of knowledge, and nursing care in the home (country ppl take care of illness at home often, unless it's beyond their knowledge or ability). Nurses' attitudes can affect these attitudes. If the attitude is positive, the greater the chance the patient will show compliance. However, if the attitude is negative, the patient may show non-compliance by not taking meds correctly or not showing up for FU appts. Country or rural ppl are not that different from most; if they feel the nurse is listening, respectful, etc., they respond accorsingly.

New nurse.. Just want to quit everything..
Sweetie, those are absolutely ridiculous odds. Quit. Now. Run. Report unsafe practice and don't look too hard for a quick or adequate response. Look for another job in which a new grad is not expected working without support for a large facility with residents who are dementia, a.k.a. fall risks among other things. Thus situation is simply outragroup and unless there's something else you haven't disclosed, there's no way on earth I would ever acquiesce to this dangerous environment.

Passed NCLEX PN in 85 questions!
I took NCLEX Friday, June 5. My test started at 2:00. I was leaving by 3:00. I thought I failed, but I checked Pearson Vue today and paid $8.00 for quick results and saw PASS!

Challenges
I think I have made a mistake; nursing is not for me. I love it, but I am mathematically and kinesthetically challenged. I can do the academics, my language skills are fortunately strong. I can do the pharmacology (we are allowed a calculator), and clinical is easy. Skills are killing me. It is so frustrating when the instructors say it is not their job to demonstrate skills; the videos assigned aren't applicable. We do not have the equipment or the room for a similar set up. There are a lot of little rules no one knows about unless you break one...incredibly discouraging...any advice?

I want to hear from those accepted to their Nursing Program
Just like Hibbzem, my math and science skills were lacking when I took TEAS. I had never had chemistry, had completed Anatomy and Physiology I, and had just started A&P II when I was invited to take TEAS. I passed and was accepted in the program. Let your strengths guide you, absolutely. I had to study very hard to get an 'A' in Anatomy and Physiology II (I had a 'B' in the first A&P), but I did it. One word of advice, work on those math and science skills if they are not your forte. Don't give up, listen to the instructors and follow their directions carefully. Study whenever possible. Learn and try to enjoy despite the inevitable stress.

Keep failing checkoffs
Same skills I absolutely froze up on. Pretty sure my instructor thinks I am a unstable as well... she does not. She recognizes the performance anxiety and explained she used to suffer from it, too. The trick is, according to her, is to pretend as if I am confident, whether I actually am or not. Visualization and relaxation techniques might help, too.
