  1. Hi I am a graduate of that program (Class of 2012), and I have gotten job(s) based on me being in school and continued working. I have nothing negative to say about the program, I was my hospital's Informatics Coordinator and then I moved to IT. Salaries are dependant on State, but you do make more than you do as a floor nurse. I am currently interviewing for a new job, and working on my certification now. Hope that helps!
  2. I would agree with a nurse that works in IT can call themselves and informatics nurse because they work with processes, information, and turning that data into meaningful work. But they are not an informatics nurse specialist, and that requires as masters degree in nursing to use that title.
  3. I do miss it to a degree, I miss the instant gratification of feeling fulfilled after you help a patient come back from the brink of death (PICU nurse adrenaline talking) and now it's like it's after a long project to get that same sense of yes I did it! I think it takes a lot of soul searching to come off the floor, but I think if your truly want this as a future you could do it. I am still debating if a return to the floor is in the cards for me, but I would do my NP, if I return, but I am continuing to try new things in this informatics role and it's going to keep on expanding as years go on. I say grab hold now, it's not going anywhere.
