  1. In the 50's/hr in northern CA
  2. It is not at the same facility. I have 2months experience at my current job. Lol... My friend keeps saying to ask more or "nope I wouldn't do it." I said that I didn't feel in the position to ask for more since I don't have experience. 2 months is nothing.
  3. I'm interested in this topic as well. I was offered a job at a nursing rehab facility. Offer was at $26 for on call position. My friend says to ask for more; she's getting $31 at ltc she also knows a nurse working at the rehab place and says that everyone just got a raise in the $30's. I'm making more at my current job. Only reason I would consider getting the on call position is because it's closer to home. Would it be ok to ask for equal pay? I've consider getting the position at $26 and if In the future I were to be offered a permanent position I would negotiate at least equal pay. What do you guys think? TIA
  4. The placebo was prescribed. I think it's wrong too.
  5. Can you get in trouble if you lie to a patient about a medication? Coworker said they gave a vitamin but told pt is was something else, a PRN. Pt has psych problems and has become depended on this med when they don't need it. What do you think?
  6. I'm in the same situation as you. new grad working at a ltc. I also thought it would be great place to start off. My orientation was really short only 3 days and then off on my own. I never thought about asking for more days though. I was so stressed out that first day I got really sick and couldn't go back for a week. I've been on my own for about 2 weeks and feel so incompetent too. I've made a few mistakes and that has made me feel so insecure. I also skip lunch so I can leave at a reasonable time. I've thought of quitting a few times, but don't want to give up just yet. Any new will bring a new type of stress. Give your self a chance. I know this isn't much advice, but you're not alone in how you feel. Best wishes
  7. First day by myself as a nurse for ltc and my anxiety was over the roof!! I had over 20 pts. One screaming ALL day long my name!!! I felt rushed with medication passage. And now I'm scared I made a med error and I can't stop thinking about that. I've told my self I need to slow down next time and avoid distractions (like pt yelling all day LONG!) I get so worried about things like this. Is this feeling normal? Please advise. I won't go back to work until next week, I will have this worry until I go back and feel assure all residents are safe.
