FNP Student , Need Preceptorship Advice
I did look into the ENP network things but haven't paid any dues for it, just did a preliminary search. I joined my states council of nurse practitioners. I paid the student membership fee which was $75 and they say they have a list of NP's who precept with their contact info. I'm waiting on approval of my application right now. Also, have you contacted any NP's for precepting?? I want to start but I'm not 100% sure of the criteria needed and how to set up a contract as I haven't been to my school's orientation yet. My first clinical isn't until June 2017, but I'm so nervous about this aspect of school. I've heard from multiple people that lack of preceptors has delayed their graduation...

FNP Student , Need Preceptorship Advice
I am in almost the same boat as you (minus the pregnancy - congrats! :) ) I recently applied to be a member of my state's nurse practitioner association as they have a list of NP's in the state who will precept, but have yet to hear back. I hope you get some more knowledgeable/experienced responses as, like I said, I'm in the same situation and would love some advice....

Getting accepted into USC (South Carolina) FNP program for the spring smester
Hi Nicurn11! I can't give you much info on the USC FNP program, but as far as your chances of acceptance - I applied to their FNP program for a Fall 2016 start and I graduated with my BSN in May 2014 with a 3.5 GPA and have been working in the NICU for the last two years as well :) and I was accepted to the program! So based off my stats you have a really good chance of acceptance! Good luck :)

Fall 2016 FNP Applications
I actually got an email yesterday! I got in :) but it's bittersweet for me...basically, life happened and I am no longer located in North Carolina, but rather Virginia. I was originally under the assumption that I could do the program from Virginia, but after meeting with an advisor a few weeks ago I learned all students must reside in NC as they only have approved clinical sites in NC. So I'm afraid I'll have to decline - though I'm part of the full time program so not much help to you :/ Was hoping to talk to someone about hopefully deferring in case I can get down there in a year, but that's most likely not a possibility. Upset because I feel like I'm passing up an amazing opportunity oh well...that's life I suppose... Anyways..Sorry for the rant! Good luck!

ODU FNP Fall 2014
When I spiked with her she also told me it was very possible to work - we would just need Thursday morning off I believe. Unfortunately (or fortunately?) I've been offered a full time position at a great family practice office. It's the perfect job to get experience and a foot in the door before going for my FNP. I'll just be starting this new job next month and I really want to be able to stay full time for AT LEAST a year. So I'm worried that won't work... i think being an alumni will DEFINITELY help you! If it make you feel better - comparing the two of us, you definitely have the better application! ODU alum, solid GPA, wider range of experience...I'd say you have a solidly competitive application! Yeah, she told me they accept anywhere from 15-35 per class and it's dependent on the quality of applicant as well as the location. They look to make sure they have preceptors and class sites in your area apparently. I felt awkward ward asking her when we'd find out - for some reason I feel that's a rude question? But she said they don't get to see any application until the deadlin - so March 1st. And then since people have been applying since last summer it take a while to review them all and decide on the accepted - so she said the earliest is the first week of May Understandable I guess but SO FAR AWAY. I applied to to a few schools but ODU is easily my top choice. It's a great program with impressive pass rates (according to the woman) and the length of program is really appealing - only 4 semesters?! I haven't found that with any other program! But the course load is quite heavy it sounds like :/ Definitely keep me updated if you hear anything (and I'll do the same)! :)

ODU FNP Fall 2014
I also plan on working full time at first but am very concerned I won't be able to keep that up. The full-time program is very heavy - finishing in just 4 semesters/one year. I haven't found another program quite like that. Though the woman I talked to also said working is possible - though we must reserve Thursday mornings for class I believe. However, with a 12-13 credit course load each semester plus one to three clinical days depending on the semester, I really don't see how I could work full time... As an alumni, I feel you won't have an issue with admissions. Unfortunately, I went to a small liberal arts college up in New Jersey for undergraduate and only have NICU experience. Plus my GPA is very sub-par... I'm so anxious for May..... You mention above that you spoke with someone who said the applicant pool is small. Do you know how small? The woman I spoke to said they accept anywhere from 15 to 35 students and have been receiving applications since last summer! Eek! I haven't found anyone else applying to ODU for Fall 2016! Glad to have found someone :) Hope other ODU applicants find this thread as well... :)

ODU FNP Fall 2014
I also applied to ODU FNP for this upcoming Fall 2016. Anyone willing to share stats? I spoke with an admissions woman there who was really nice and informative. She told me decisions won't go out till first week in May As far as the DNP program she said they haven't been approved yet, but if they are, they will be graduating some of the accepted MSN FNP students to the DNP program. My stats: I graduated with my BSN in May 2014 and have been working as a NICU nurse since then. Overall GPA 3.49/Nursing GPA 3.77. GRE scores Q 155/ V 153/ AW 4.5. Looking forward to hearing back from you guys! Haven't heard of anyone else applying to ODU... :) the wait is beyond nerve wracking..

FNP Program Requirements
Hey all, I applied to ODU for their MSN FNP program for a Fall 2016 date. They haven't been approved for the DNP program yet, so I was told they are still accepting for MSN! Anyone decide to go there last fall? It's hard to get in contact with people at the school...Not much info on here either
