  1. Congrats Ronda! My one piece of advice for the PN program is not to listen to anyone who says that youre "just an LPN." I heard that plenty and it bothered me too much. LPNs play a wonderful role in health care and it can be a valuable stepping stone as well if you choose. Wishing you success!
  2. Yes, I got an acceptance email. Wasn't expecting it until Monday. Good luck on next year if you didn't get in. Surry County does lpn to adn enrollments twice a year. Maybe that's an option?
  3. DCCC acceptance emails have been sent! Hopefully the mail will bring FTCC letters soon for everyone else waiting.
  4. Nothing wrong with that. That's why I went through the LPN program and I don't regret it at all.
  5. Deadline is tomorrow!!
  6. I applied to the lpn-rn program with an 86.7
  7. 86.7 for the teas. I requested to join the Facebook group. So is the group for all nursing students or just the transition program?
  8. I applied to the LPN-RN program also. How did everyone do on the teas?
  9. Waiting not so patiently with you guys!!
  10. Anyone else waiting? Teas score, total points? Impatient like me? í ½í¸
  11. No, I applied to DCCC also. Email acceptance letters go out March 12th for them.
  12. Has anyone taken the teas yet? What's your points total?
  13. They're often called "Geri sleeves." I would clarify the order and also indicate if they're to be applied to both arms or both legs (or all 4?!)
  14. Hi! Just wanted to start a thread for anyone applying to the Lpn-Rn transition in 2018. We can wait for acceptance letters together
  15. Yes LPNs can work with peds patients. They are used a lot in my area in peds clinics. Are you currently in RN school? (I wasn't clear on that part) One thing I am clear on is that LPN school isn't "easier" really, just different. It's a shorter program but in most states you are taught almost all of the skills an RN student learns just in less time. So that makes it fast paced. I think many people go into lpn school thinking it will be easy and they are in for a surprise. Starting as an lpn is a good track to follow if you cannot quit work or go part time for two years for your RN. I hope it works out for you and you become the pediatric nurse you want to be!
  16. Hi! I picked up my scrubs Monday. I have everything and I'm just waiting to start now :) i have clinicals on Tuesday too so i guess we're in the same section together.
  17. I got a tote called "avenue tote" from Marcus uniforms or amazon. It has a zip top, water bottle holder, inner compartment, outer compartment holds iPad/ folder for paperwork etc and pen divider. Hard to describe but it's a perfect size. Im waiting to see if I'll need a bigger bookbag. I'm wondering how many books we'll carry normally. My textbook mountain is growing weekly! So tomorrow will be spent doing the stuff you've already gotten done. That website sounds handy.
  18. Hey! 30 days and counting!!! I've gotten most of my books & ordered my scrubs. The clinical kit and another couple of textbooks will be ordered this week. Malpractice has to be paid soon too. As far as supplies: I got a tote bag for clinicals, my stethoscope/shoes/watch & a change purse that will hold my phone/$/lip balm that I will keep in my scrub pocket. I also got a planner which is going to be full in no time! I'm also getting a clipboard like you've already gotten. The website you're talking about is the one listed in the back of our packet right? I should look at that!
  19. You didn't have to take the TEAS before being accepted into the program? I suggest taking it twice. I studied the parts I was weakest at first (math/science) and then reviewed the rest before reading over math & science again. The first time I tested, I made a 72...a good score according to staff and the past results of students. I knew I could do better so I studied over the printout they give you of areas to improve, along with page numbers to find it. Two days later, I retested and improved my score by 12 points...94% nationally & 99% for my program. Definitely do the practice tests at the back of the book too.
  20. Yes! Even if its not the greatest working environment, it's an opportunity to hone your skills and list it on a resume to get a better job if necessary.
  21. Maybe explain the situation to us a little more. Nurse or not, everyone makes mistakes or sticks their foot in their mouth. I don't think one mistake makes you a bad nurse...especially if the patient was well cared for and not in danger. I overthink situations and beat myself up for them but it's not helpful and only attacks your self confidence. Realizing what you could have done differently. Apologizing if necessary & moving on is the most helpful. Home health may not be for you but I don't think you should throw the proverbial baby out with the bath water. There are many other avenues of nursing if you don't feel home health clicks well in your brain or with your nursing style. Hang in there!
  22. Nothing new. Just got my physical and am in the process of getting both TB tests. I'm finishing anatomy and will start looking over dosage calc so I can be ahead and less stressed in the beginning. I know the wait is nerve wracking! Orientation is soon though and then there's the physical/cna deadline in May that people will probably fail to meet.
