I am an RN working on my BSN. My apologies if my original post wasn't clear, I meant the Capstone class (for UTA Arlington) starts April 11th, but as oposed to previous semesters there will not be multiple start dates - only the April date. I was hoping to see if anyone who is currently in or has taken Capstone for this specific program had any advice on my situation, as I have seen similiar threads in the past (however, none recently and I don't know if Capstone has changed). There is no instructor to ask, and the school only could tell me they were sorry for my "situation". Thanks!

Hi all. So it seems with the creation of the "new" Capstone course (to accommodate the "new" Intro courses), the Capstone course I must take is ONLY going to be offered April 11th 2015. I am pregnant with our first child and due May 29th. Capstone is my only course left. My question is, is it possible to get ahead in Capstone? What's it's like compared to other courses? Am I out of my mind for thinking I can get ahead and give birth and finish up the class? (I obviously won't be working after and I'm lucky that I will have tons of family help with the baby). For what it's worth, I was able to get ahead in Vulnerable and Research to schedule some vacations, and I did fine in both classes. Any advice is welcome. Thanks!

Just finished the course! Personally, I found this class pretty easy compared with some of the others. I'm so glad they changed the format, I was reeeeealllllyy dreading this class and it went by quick and pretty painless!

I'm in the class that started 8/10. So far it's not too bad, although I was denied for the first article I submitted (but that was my own fault). I hate that we can't see what we were marked off for on the assignments before we make our second attempt, but so far it's nothing worse than any other class I've taken at UTA. I'm sure glad they changed the format from the group work format I heard about!

Thank you! My brain was so muddled with trying to map out courses I misread the pre-reqs and thought it was college algebra that was required. Do you happen to know or remember if there is a window for taking the proctored exams, or are they only available on one day? Can we take them whenever we want to schedule them through Proctor U? I appreciate it!

I created a top post for this question, but then stumbled onto this post. Sorry for the duplicate question. I'm wondering if anyone felt they needed Stats before Research? Somewhere along the line I got that idea into my head, but I'm not sure of it now. The way the next group of classes is set up would leave me with months of time between classes if I took Stats first, and I'm hoping to avoid that. Thanks!

Hi all, My understanding is the format of Research has recently changed. For anyone who has taken the new version, do you find taking Stats before Research was necessary or helpful? The syllabus doesn't really give much help in that aspect. I only ask because if I HAVE to take Stats before Research, I'm going to end up with a month long break, and I'm hoping to avoid that (and just get done!). Thanks!

It is? I don't see that anywhere, I checked the syllabus online and the partnership website, and it only says Nurs 3645 (like all the classes say). Do you actually utilize what you learn from Stats in the Research class?

I thought I read somewhere here that you should take stats before taking research. I still need both. Any feedback on this idea? I'm becoming really nervous about taking research, and I am horrible at any class that involves numbers (my brain just freezes up in math). I am saving both for the summer when work slows down. Yep, I did it on Friday, took about 2 hours and I had the certificate within 5 minutes. Only this week's quiz and next week's and we're done!

Has anyone done their FEMA yet? Curious how long it really takes to get the certificate, because I brain-farted and didn't realize it was due Wednesday instead of Saturday! Eek! Hoping if I do it tomorrow or Friday I'll get it in time.

I've been trying to get ahead due to a holiday trip, and week 2 almost killed me! And I'm taking this class alone! I turned it in Thursday and waiting on my grade. Just finished the week 3 assignment, sooooo much easier (if I did it right haha).

Thanks for responding! According to the general syllabus online, it looks like week 3 will have the Nursing Intervention assignment due. I would have to get it done by Wednesday of that week. I'm not so worried about the discussion boards or responses, I can do those ahead of time. I can do the test Sunday as well. But I would HAVE to get that assignment submitted by Wednesday, because I won't have access to a computer Thur-Sat (possibly limited access Thursday). This was a surprise trip from the hubs, and it's stressing me. My big question - since you've been there, is what I am hoping for possible? To get it in by the Wednesday? Do they grade quickly? I think I've seen other posts here saying they were so slow to grade it didn't matter anyway.

Hi all, I'll be starting Vulnerable in November, and have to go out of town for 3-4 days. It would be Thur-Sun at the end of week 3. I'm wondering from those of you who have taken it - is it possible to get ahead? What days are the quizzes available? How intense is the third week? I'll be taking it alone, so I can dedicate as much time as I need to get ahead. I wont be able to do any schoolwork while I'm gone. Thanks!

I've been waiting for UTA to evaluate my transfer transcripts for the online RN-BSN program, and they just came back saying of the 28 required nursing transfer credits I only have 17. The first school I went to was a clock-hour school for an LPN program, then I transferred to a standard community college for block 3 and 4 to get my RN. I have friends that attended the clock-hour school with me who were able to go on to their BSN, but that was in schools in Arizona (where I am). Has anyone had any experience with not having enough nursing credits? I'm hoping they will either take some of my other transfer credits (I have over 100 from two different associate's degrees that they took), or let me take some extra classes to make up the difference. Has anyone been through this? I've been trying to get through to someone for two days with no luck. I'm going insane over this, especially since they require you to take the Intro class before they will even evaluate you, and I'm nervous and annoyed by the fact that I'm on week 10 of this class with the fear I wont be able to continue. Any advice is helpful!

Hi all! I am three weeks in to my first class in the RN-BSN program, Intro to Professional Nursing. I'm wondering how this class compares with others in regards to time consumption and amount of work. The topics are easy enough, but I find myself putting loads of time into the class - 3 weeks in and my life is already only work, school, sleep. Not that I didn't expect it, but I work 40 hours/5 days a week (sometimes more), and at this rate I can't imagine having the time to double up on classes, which is what I wanted to do. At the very least I wanted to double up my required core classes and occasionally some "easier" nursing classes. If I'm struggling to find time with this class, am I screwed for doubling up in the future? Any thoughts from those that have been there would be appreciated. Thanks!

Absolutely! I don't actually live in Texas though, I'm in Arizona. But that's the power of the web for ya!

No I haven't, I called and asked and they said it wasn't available yet. I was doing my own counting of weeks based off the available schedule, so I just have an estimate. Sure wish they would make the next one available though!

I understand school is a huge commitment, but things do come up! I mean, we do work, and we have lives lol. My personal issue is attending my sister's wedding in Hawaii for a week. Obviously this has been planned for a while and before I made the decision to go back to school, and I decided I didn't want to wait to start until after (I didn't want to put it off for another 8 months!). What with family being there, being in the wedding, etc etc, I'm just envisioning a nightmare lol. I'm sure I can probably access wifi, and I'm not opposed to waking up early or staying up to do school work. I guess I'm looking for suggestions on what the easiest class may be to accommodate this? And if I've done my mapping correctly, it will have to be a nursing course, I don't think any gen ed courses will be available to start after I finish the first Professional Nursing class.

I have been looking through the message boards and have the impression Nursing Research and the History core classes are pretty intense, so I would try and stay away from those. Any pointers on which the "easier" classes are, or ones that require less message board/log in time/topic research time? I'm fine with doing assignments early with instructor permission. Again, not looking for an easy out, but like I said I really don't want to take time off and this trip is unavoidable!

Hi all! I'm starting the UTA program April 7th with RN to BSN Professional Nursing and have an odd predicament. I have to go out of town for a week in July (yes, I'm excessively pre-planning and obsessing) and would be mostly unattached to the internet during that week. If I've done my own course mapping correctly, it would be smack in the middle of a nursing course I could potentially start 6/30. Are there any nursing courses that let you get ahead or make up assignments? No core classes would fit into that time frame. This is definitely a one time issue that wouldn't be happening again! After speaking with the initial advisor they tell me to simply not register for classes during that time frame, which I'm grudgingly willing to do but hate the idea of putting myself behind down the line. Any ideas? Thanks! :)
