FLORIDA - Self Reporting to BON
I self-reported a DWI to the Florida BON. I called a couple of times to check the status of my case. The BON hasn't returned my call and the status of my license is still active. I find this odd. Anyone have a similar experience? It's been a few months.

Bachelor Degree - Needed in every state?
I see a BSN is needed to work in major hospitals within New York City. Does this hold true across the nation, for every state? If not, do you think it's definitely headed in that direction?

Termination reported to BON?
It's a no-show, no-call. Thanks for your response. When you renew a license is there a question to the effect of , "have you been terminated / faced disciplinary action....?"

I’m being investigated by the BON!
Good luck but don't be minimize your actions or be nonchalant in front of the board. It will work against you.

Thanks I self-reported to Florida, as its the law, but in NY I was told by the board that I don't have to report until I renew my license. However, I appreciate your point of, The Sooner The Better. Thanks.

DWI Felony & Licensure
I am currently licensed. I have an open case for a DWI Felony. Thank God, no one was hurt and I am in recovery but there was property damage and I blew very high. Does anyone have any direct experience or know of anyone with DWI Felony who managed to keep their license or have it reinstated at a later time? My license is active now but I expect it will be at least suspended in the near future. I am in New York.

Getting in a New York Hospital
I feel I am working hard, not smart, at finding a hospital job in NYC. I only have my associate degree which I know a big problem with the current trend to only hire those with BSN. Unfortunately, I did not schmooze, network, like I should have while I was working my clinical school rotation so I do not have great contacts. What is the best way to go about finding a position, getting attention, breaking in, etc? Some say hunt down the Nurse Manager and set up an appt with her but I always get redirected to HR. Thanks!

How to run a Background Check on self?
I ran a background check via Criminal History Record Search - N.Y. State Courts I had a misdemeanor arrest from many years ago that did not show up for me. If they did not show up for me do you think they will not show up for the Board? Which search method do they use? FBI? I checked out the FBI Background check service but it looks like you have to get your prints taking from a third party and submit them, etc.

How to run a Background Check on self?
Thank you. I can get a criminal history record from NYS Office of Court Administration? Is there any additional info you can give me? A specific dept, contact or number? If not, I will search, starting with, "NYS Office of Court Administration". Thanks again

How to run a Background Check on self?
I paid one company online that has a great rep but according to them I have nothing in my history. I wish that was true but it's not. I have misdemeanor convictions in my past. Where can I see what the Nursing Board will see? How can I get a REAL Criminal check on myself? Thanks SM

Bachelor's Degree Online?
I recently graduated with my Associate's and passed the NCLEX! I don't know whether or not to pursue my Bachelor's degree Online or not. Can anyone recommend a good online school? One that is relatively affordable? Would an online degree hurt me in the event I want to pursue a Master's Degree? Thanks!

DWI Misdemeanors in past. Board wants more info...
Hello: I am not proud of it and not happy to announce this for thousands of people to read but I would like to reach out and get helpful feedback from others in my Nursing community. I have two misdemeanor charges related to alcoholism. I am in recovery now, sober, stable, and would actually like to work in the mental health, chemical dependency areas of health care. I sent my ATT form and heard back from the New York State Board asking for court documents and a letter concerning the situation. What should I send exactly? Should I go "all out" and send letters from the outpatient center where I received treatment, character witness letters from someone? Or would that be too much or even a turn off to them. Can they deny me? If so, can i reapply? Should I keep it simple and write a letter on my own along with the documents from the courts? The first offense was many years ago and the second was almost 3 years ago. When filling out the application I simply checked Yes when asked if I have ever been found guilty of a misdemeanor. Should I only address the last one or both? Honesty is best but I don't want to lead with the chin either. Thanks, SJ
