Just to add my 2 cents, I think applying to NY hospitals without your NY license would be pointless as the market is saturated with new grads already who have already taken their boards, so if a hospital doesn't overlook you due to your current locat...
Its a level 2 and they see about 75,000 per yr. I have no prior hospital experience and have only worked in a ltc for a few years which is as far opposite you can get from er! I am apprehensive because Ive been reading 6 months everywhere is ideal bu...
Paco386- The first post states she already has her NY license number To original poster... Sadly, I was thinking of doing the reverse and obtaining my NJ license to expand my search. What parts of jersey were you applying to with no luck?
I have previously worked in a LTC facility and only Dr's started IVs and only phlebotomy techs draw bloods. I wanted to know is this customary in most ltc facilities?
I heard from a friend who works there that Eger isnt hiring as of now but aside from the two hospitals mentioned theres also st. elizabeth anns. Also, since you will be moving to jersey soon, you should try getting your jersey license so you could ex...
There are a ton of neighborhoods to choose from in the Brooklyn/Queens area, it all depends on what you can afford. Also, if you are a new grad, now may not be a good time to find a job in NY as most new grads right now are having a difficult time.

As a RN, im not working as of yet unfortunately. I was working for one as an LPN but they have no RN openings. I thought you were offered a position in one already?
The union is 1199,at my facility they provided tuition reimbursement for all employees in the union. As far as the work exchange program, Im unsure of the details in terms of who qualifies as the person who took advantage of this was a LPN at the tim...
I'm not sure of the salary of an M.I but have you looked into CNA certification? The reason why I'm suggesting that is because it's a position with more patient contact which is ideal and many facilities provide tuition reimbursement through the unio...
Being proficient in spanish alone would make you more marketable however I dont know if having a MI certification would necessarily give you more of an edge. Simply having the language skills (not sure of what other languages you are fluent in) is su...
Perhaps this facility is conducted this way because its a orthodox jewish facility, thats the only reason that I can come up with in terms of the foley issue. However the IV issue remains the same, only inserted by the MD. (Maybe b/c they had too man...
I dont know how I missed this when it was originally posted however I am one of those who are unable to attain a position as a RN in ANY dept....geez I haven't received ANY callbacks either.... ! So to the one who found it hard to believe, it's true,...
Well im happy to hear it ! Im a new grad RN, but worked in LTC as an LPN for 3 yrs up until last year so it wasnt too long ago. However, being that I only worked at the one facility, ive wondered how it is in others as im looking for another job. I d...
I'm still waiting for the crazy part !! It seems as if these days, with nursing school, if you dont have some "story" or "situation" youre currently going through, you arent in the majority. No longer are classes full of students straight out of HS,...
Hey Erin As far as your day/night dilemma, I was just having this conversation with a fellow nurse who is also a mother however she prefers nights due to the issue of having someone watch them while shes at work. However, if you take a night position...

As far as my exp. has been with the job hunt it certainly feels downright impossible. I graduated May 08 and as of yet still have not landed a job and only received ONE call back from the countless applications ive put in. However, there have been pe...
This was on NYS Nursing site, it shows results from 03-07 as well as the total number of students who sat for the boards from that school for each year. http://www.op.nysed.gov/nurseprogs-nclex-rn.htm
Not to beat a dead argument however I did want to share my two cents. First and foremost the purpose of this thread is to inform students who are interested in HF's CURRENT program and learning environment not as it was years ago. Philly, you attende...
