Hgb 7.2 from 13.3 after delivery
Thank each of you for your insight. They decided to transfuse because her lips were white, she was dizzy and trying to pass out. They had to get a wheel chair for her. Do you think after being symptomatic do you it was a good call to transfuse two units? Also what Hgb/hema #'s would you most def transfuse?

Hgb 7.2 from 13.3 after delivery
Sister just delivered a baby lady partslly. Hgb was 13.3 to start. After bleeding in the bed for 5 hours dr finally came in. Ended up doing a d&c. Pulled lots of stuff out. Was this drs fault for not checking placenta after it came out?. I didn't find out she was bleeding until the 5th hour and got someone in there plus I'm in a different state. Next am I call for a Hgb and it was 7.2?? Nobody seemed concerned to add iron to her meds nor give her 2 units. Finally that night she got 2 units? Is this because she was on an OB floor?. Was dr at fault for not checking placenta? Any floor I have ever worked we gave 2 units under 8. Any insight would be appreciated :-)

Exelsior College Information Need Advice Plz
I am currently an LVN in Texas. I have enrolled with The College Network for my modules and Exelsior for my actual college and degree to obtain my RN. Has anyone done this route? If so, what were the test you had to take at the testing center based off of after you read each module? Where should I focus my studying. Also, did you have a problem finding employment after you were finished with the program? Were their any catches. Any advice would be greatful. Thanks Angela

Need Advise
Has anyone completed the Exelsior program online for their associates? Did you have trouble getting a job when done. How were boards? My last question is after reading the modules bought from The College Network, was the test pretty much the same as the one you take at the end of each module? Where should I focus my studying. Thanks, Angela

What should I expect to see in LTC?
Good Luck on your CNA. Remember that each level is a steppin stone and it is what you make of it. While doing clinicals at a LTC for 2 mths, I seen some of the best CNA's. However, I do think they could be paid more, but that is besides the point. I wont repeat what Amy wrote above. It was well put and the very truth. I so agree on the Vicks Vapor Rub. I still carry it till this day and I can tolerate anything that has a stench. I would recommend just doing your very best and stay positive and know this experience will help you in the long run when you do decide to go to nursing school. Employers will look at that. Good Luck.

Accutane
I highly recommend Accutane. My face would break out here and there. I would have those under the skin cyst where you couldnt do anything with them. You'll have to be on two forms of birth control. They (whomever administers it) will give you monthly blood test to make sure all is ok. I was only on it from Aug - Dec of last year and then was taken off of it. It is now end of April and my face has remained so clear and my face has not broken out since. I havent even had one pimple. Im on proactive just because I wanted to be, and it works awesome. Accutane got all the hard work done. Also, the only symptom I experienced was my lips peeled. But it was well worth. I wear lipstick and could cover the peeling up most of the time. Good luck, Do the benefits outweigh the risks. There are risks with everything.

shoes for aching backs
New Balance really helped my lower back during clinicals from 0630-1500. I was wearing Nike Shocks, but my back wouldn't even last until lunch. With New Balance and wearing the Ted Hoes (for circulation), I haven't had any problems this whole semester. Good Luck, Ang

Any last week study tips? NCLEX 6/22
how was your transition from lvn to rn. may i ask what the salary can be for an lvn from smallest to largest. i may go this route. i got accepted into the lvn program that starts in aug, but i may have a chance for the rn program that starts in jan??

What route to choose LVN-RN or RN only
I have a slot for me already in the LVN program starting in Aug. I have all my prereq for my ADN except for micro and A & P 11 which right now Im in A & P11. I have a chance of waiting until this coming January 2006 to enter into the ADN program which is 2 years and you have summers off. I would graduate as a RN if I pass my boards and all Jan 2008. If I were to go LVN what options do I have as far as transitioning to a RN later. Is this recommended or should I chance me getting into the RN in Jan. If I don't get in the RN program in Jan, I would still have a slot in the LVN program if all else fails.

RN & LPN(LVN) Questions
Thank you for the input. No it isn't all I about the money. Being a nurse is something I have had my heart set on since I was 14 and I am going on 28. I am a people person. I love people and enjoying helping if I can and not expecting anything in return. About the money, I would like to work like I don't need the money. I would like to have the money to help others( like my mom, brother and sister) when they may need it. I want to enjoy what I do. I am going to pass up the LVN class in August and hope I get in the RN in January. My GPA is at 3.33 and that's what they are looking at. If I don't get in the January class I will have a back up spot in the LVN position. Its not really what I want, but its better than nothing and it will get me started. I have most all my classes for the RN anyway except for two. My husband only has two years left in the Army so I am trying to get something under my belt so that I can take care of us until he finds work. Thanks for your input.

RN & LPN(LVN) Questions
Hello!! I have been accepted to the LVN program that starts in August of 2005 and will end in August of 2006. I eventually want my Assoicates and even bachelors in Nursing. I have my prequistes for the RN program to include my sciences except for A & P 11 and Im currently enrolled in that. My question is if anyone knows what is the starting salary (I know it depends on location) of an LVN. I have two options here & I dont know which to do. Option 1 is to put my packet in for the RN classes that begin in January 2006. I will not know if I get picked up until October of this year. If I get picked up I will begin the program in Jan 2006. It is two years in length w/summers off. They told me I could work in the hospital for pay during these summers as an assistant. If I didnt get picked up for RN in January I would still have my LVN slot from that I turned down in August, but I would begin in January. Option 2: I have already been selected to start the LVN program in August of 2005. I would graduate one year from August. Does anyone know what I can make when I get out. Also, I would like to transition, but they told me I would have to wait one year b/c I wouldnt have my license in time to enroll for their transition. Can anyone who has been in my shoes shed some light on what the best thing is to do, where the money is at etc. THANK YOU :chuckle
