  1. In the middle of a 4 vessel CABG, out of nowhere he looks up at the Cardiac Anesthesia Resident and says "You realize you're just a glorified barista, right?" and then casually goes back to sewing the distals. What the....?
  2. Uh...I said "Intracellular, NOT Interstellar..."
  3. Here's the deal: *Most* ORs offer an internship for new grads, as well as RNs who want to transition to the OR. Internship is a few months of hands on training, as well as (possibly) some lab/class time (for learning how to do 5 min scrub, gown/glove. Etc). Its all about sterile technique, case flow/time mgmt, and knowing where stuff is. Also, know that circulating in cardiac *is very different* than circulating in any other service. I would say that adult hearts is probably the most complex service for circulators (and everybody else)...especially if they want to scrub as well. (Think CABG/Valves, heart transplants, TAVR, ECMO, LVAD...you get the picture) That being said, CVOR will push your skill level far and fast. You'll learn a lot about well, everything. It's totally worth it. Nothing more satisfying than seeing a transplanted heart begin to beat...
  4. Also wondering if @prospectRN received a letter...
  5. Oh, sweet baby Jesus...I got in! Guess I don't need to refill my Xanax prescription 😎
  6. I called today, as well. First I spoke with a woman in Admissions, who stated that they hadn't yet finalized their accepted applicant pool, and, as a result, letters would not be going out for another 1-1.5 weeks. Then I called the nursing dept to confirm this info. The woman I spoke with in nursing stated that letters would be going out next week, and we should anticipate knowing our results by week's end. All in all, lots of conflicting info. As long as I hear back before August, I guess I'll be fine...though I'd like to know like right now! :)
  7. I applied to Montgomery for fall 2015. Completed all prerequisites (and then some!), good gpa, good TEAS scores. I moved here last year from Portland, OR, and was accepted to OHSU SoN program like 3 weeks after I arrived. I sadly had to turn them down. Now I've got all of my eggs in this one basket. Doesn't seem to be a lot of activity on the message boards for this (potential) cohort. Maybe only 6 of us applied? Haha...
  8. I am sooooo happy that I got into OHSU! I just spoke with their financial aid office regarding notification of eligibility packets. They said that they are still working on summer 2014 aid award packets, and no date yet as to when packets will be sent out to the fall 2014 admits. I'm still sort of hoping I make it off of the wait list at U of P. Anyone else headed there?
  9. Good news! I have an interview with OHSU (La Grande campus)! Super thrilled. In other news, I was wait listed at U of P. I'm cool with that...it's an honor just to be nominated. Waiting to hear from Linfield.....
  10. I'm applying this year, as well. Super stressful, but fingers crossed! I'm sort of hoping for Linfield, as I doubt that I will make the points cut off for MHCC or PCC....3.6 GPA, all prereqs complete, prior degree (Associate), 6,000+ hours as a nationally certified CST at a level III trauma center, volunteer medical mission last year. Unfortunately, I can only claim 2 healthcare points at PCC, and only 4 at MHCC. That C in math 95 is going to be my downfall...Arg! How are you guys dealing with a not-so-perfect GPA?
