Seattle RN Job Market
Lovely fellow nurses, I am looking to relocate from OR to WA, Seattle to be exact. I graduated from my ADN program last year and have just over one year of ICU experience after completing a critical care internship. I will graduate from my BSN program through OHSU this December. So here is my question: What is the current job market for critical care RNs in Seattle with an almost-BSN degree? I am considering applying for step-down or PCU as well. I've heard rumors that the job market for RNs in Seattle is tough and very limited. I'm hoping to get some more insight as well as maybe some information on where to look. My WA license should go through in about 3-4 weeks which is when I can start applying. Right now I have been looking at Swedish, UW, and Virgina Mason. Are there any other acute care facilities that I am missing? I really appreciate the input! Kathrin

Thank you for your answers. I already volunteer at the hospital in labor & delivery and work as a CNA. The chemistry class would have been hard to fit into my work schedule, since it is a 5-credit, 4-day a week class at my community college. I really appreciate the help! Good luck on your new journey as an OHSU student :)

For all you ladies who got accepted at OHSU: First of all CONGRATULATIONS! I am currently working on my prerequisites for the 3-yr program and was wondering whether you could help me answer a question: Have you all taken a Chemistry class? So far, I have a 4.0 GPA in all my classes including Micro. I was originally not planning on taking Chemistry, but now I'm wondering whether it would greatly improve my changes for getting accepted next year. Also, do you think that completing an AAOT or AS of General Studies would make a difference?

I e-mailed OHSU admissions about the personal statement section on Nursing CAS. They replied stating that personal statements are not required and will not be reviewed. I simply copied and pasted the e-mail reply into the "personal statement" section on Nursing CAS.
