I need to know if there is anything I can do in my current situation. I'll try to make this as short and factual as possible. I recently got terminated from my position. I am a new nurse (6months) and let my more experienced coworkers influence me with bad habits. Before I knew it, said bad habit got caught, resulting in termination. This is fine with me. It really sucked but was a huge learning experience for me and I believe will make me a better nurse in the long run. The issue: before I left the building for my suspension prior to termination I asked the DON and manager involved to please keep this private. I didn't want it blabbed everywhere. I told two close coworkers what happened and have been told by them that the story was everywhere by the second day. I came back for my termination paperwork and had a chance to ask an employee who shouldn't have known the story who told him. He said the DON had told him. My concern: this news has run rampant. Employees in departments that don't have any business in nursing now know about my termination and reasons. I have become the source of all topics of conversation there. Many, many of gees nurses work two jobs and I'm concerned that I will run across them while searching for a new job and word will spread before I can get a chance to be hired. Is there anything I can do about this? I was assured wholeheartedly by management that this would stay private and it obviously has not! Thanks in advance for any information. Where did you find a position? I'll be relocating there in august for family reasons and was wondering what the pay rate is? By august I'll have 2 years experience as an MA, six months experience as an LPN, and six months experience as an RN. Was it fairly easy for you to find a job while living in another state? How did you do it and what pay did they offer? If you don't mind me being nosy...thanks!!

Can you tell me what kind of research and the numbers you have turned up? I just moved to the twin cities as a new grad about 2 weeks ago. I got a job offer today and will be starting a program for my bsn next week. I just want to know what my growth potential is here. My husband and I aren't sure if this is where we want to stay or if we will be looking at another state once he finishes college. Any information you have would be greatly appreciated!! I'm living in a suburb with my parents for a little bit until I learn th area and decide where I want to set up camp. If I had insiders knowledge on low cost areas that were still in decent parts of town it would save me a lot of time as well if you happen to have that knowledge too :) thanks!

Thanks! I have an interview at a nursing home this week. Looks like I might start there for 6-12 months. Then I'll try to get into any department I can at a hospital and just work y way over to l&d. That's longer than I wanted to take but I'll do whatever it takes to get there! Thanks for the reply! :)

This is my first ever post, so if this is in the wrong spot please guide me on where to put it in the future!! I just moved to MN two weeks ago. I live in one of the suburbs just east of minneapolis. I'm a new grad and will hopefully have my license within two weeks. I have an ADN. Can anyone please tell me where I should be applying? I'm having difficulties finding job openings that will accept my qualifications on hospital websites. Do you go online or just go to the hospital in person? Or do I need to start at a LTC facility? My dream is L&D but everywhere requres 1 yr L&D experience. How am I supposed to get that experience??? Ill be starting my BSN in august. Also what are the starting wages for various positions here in MN? At hospitals, LTC, home health care, etc. Thanks for the help!!!
