  1. I have onserved that E and I distinction seems to be very misundertood. It seems that many assumt that Introverted means shy and not outgoing and that E would refer to someone who is very outgoing and social. What it really means though is how you direct your energy? Inward out out? When you need to recharge you batteries do you prefer to be around many people such as a Rock concert or party? Or do you prefer to recharge your batteries by spending some time alone or with one or a few close friends? Do you prefer one on one interactions and can share yourself and be more espressive OR do you prefer large group interactions? Do you tend to have a few close friends OR you socialise with many aquaintances? I just noticed that I hear alot of people saying in some situations I am an E but sometimes I'm and I. Of course there are various strengths of preferences so it's not that simple. Just thought I'd try to clear that one up. The other thing I feel may be a factor in answering the questions about I or E is that it is possible that there may be a cultural bias toward answering in favour of E rather than I and therefore may not be entirely accurate. This can create some confusion of what you truly are. Hope this helps.
  2. LOl...I think if you read into the context... I think it basically means Is this guy a bit of a jerk or something along those lines...lol QUOTE=HappyNurse2005]uh, what does that mean?
  3. Do you like the ER? I wold have thought that would be your game :)
  4. Anywhere you want to really. ESTJs are often natural leaders. :wink2:
  5. Touched by_angel....perhaps anesthesiology, icu, outpatient cancer treatment. Just a few ideas but I'm sure there are many more possibilites. What were your ideas?
  6. Myers-Brigg personality test.... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes2.asp Hi Everyone..I thought it would be fun if we took the Myers-Brigg personality test and shared with everyone what our specialty is or what we hope to do (if not yet a nurse or want to change jobs). If you're confused maybe this can help. For example...as an INFP (introverted, intuitive, feeling, peceiving) I would be more suited to work in mental health, public health or oncology. I would not work out so well in the ER, OR or medical surgical. I knew all this but the description just makes me more confident that my intuition about myself was probably right on. HERE'S ANOTHER INTERESTING LINK TO CHECK OUT INFO ABOUT YOUR TYPE!!!! :) http://www.personalitypage.com/info.html I think it helps to get some insight to your natural temparament and to keep it in mind in choosing your work setting. I know it's not the end all and be all but it's a tool that can be used and it could be helpful. I hope others find this at least a little hepful. I posted this before but it was moved to the breakroom so maybe this time it wll get a better response. I love this forum..you guys are great!
  7. I found this at http://www.discovernursing.com there is a section on nursing schools without wait lists. It's great. For a short cut click on the link below.... http://www.discovernursing.com/jnj-sectionID_4-pageID_54-dsc-landing.aspx
  8. I would like to hear from you wonderful oncology nurses as well. Please share your stories.
  9. Check out this link to Mcmaster university's outpost placements. Just out of curiosity what school do you go to and what year are you in? Hope this helps. http://www.learnlink.mcmaster.ca/~International.Outpost.Placements/
  10. Yes..it seems there are many good opportunities for new grads are in Vancouver.
  11. [ Yes..I want to know the answer to this question too. Anyone?! Any comments at all? QUOTE=NurseNewbie]Hi I'm looking to relocate to Toronto from Western Ontario area. I am wondering how are working conditions for nurses in the Toronto area. I have an interview with UHN next week and would appreciate any feedback regarding this topic. Thanx
  12. Ok so you are in Toronto..just to let you know that if you are willing to go to school in Kitchener then you could get into the BSN program (your degree would be from McMaster). You only need to have some credits from university (I'm not sure how many exactly) with a B average. They don't require any specific courses. You may want to Check Conestoga college or Mohawk college ( I think that's in London and offers the exact same program thre Mcmaster). These programs are still open for this coming fall. I am not sure if this helps you out at all but I thought I'd share that with you.
  13. Lys, Congrats on your new job in Vancouver! I have been thinking seriously of going to Vancouver or Victoria when I'm done because I love the west coast so much. I lived there for a few years. I can't see staying in the KW area forever. The air quality is terrible around here (I'm from Northern Ontario) and it just does not compare to BC or the Northas far as natural beauty. Yes, one of the main reasons I chose to go into nursing is because of the many options and I LOVE that! I can totally see myself trying different areas. I don't know alot about jobs for new grads but from what I have seen in ads and such is that Vancouver seems to offer great training. Have you spent any time in Vancouver? You'll enjoy living there I'm sure. Thanks for answering my questions :)
  14. Lys, Congrats to you too for graduating from the program! : :balloons: What did you enjoy about the program? How did you find the clinicals? I am also curious about your job opportunities. Did you find that you able to find work even before you graduated? Are you planning to stay in Kitchener to work? have you decided on a specialty area? Do I ask too many questions? :chuckle
  15. Anyone know if RNs can legally administer Botox treatments?
  16. Thanks everyone for the insight. It makes sense that experience would be important. What I had in mind was doing the program part time over 5 years or so. This way by the time I actaully graduate I will have some significant medical experience as an RN. I guess there are many ways to get to the same destination of becoming an NP. Thanks again for the advice everyone!
  17. I was looking at options for NP school and it seems that most require at least 2yrs of work experience as an RN to even apply. Is this pretty much the norn for most programs in Canada? I was just curious. I am particularly curious about the Larentian program because most of it is via distance ed and you can study part time part time. Any insights?
  18. Hello All....I just wondered if anyone has heard anything about this new centre and how many new jobs this will open? I know it is scheduled to be open in 2009. I am from Sault Ste Marie and will be graduating then so I'm thinking this might be a good opportunity. Any info would be appreciated.
  19. Thanks Jewels, How did you find Biochemistry? I have no chemistry background do I'm a bit concerned. :uhoh21: I won't have to take Psychology or any electives. I will have to work about 20 hours a week though. Do you think it will be doable?
  20. Are there any nurses out there who run their own skin care/asthetics clinic? I'd be interested to know how one would go about specializing in that area. Any info on this would be great. I am a nurse entrepenuer wanna be. :rotfl:
  21. Elaine, Is there anyway to get through even faster by any chance? Just wondering. QUOTE=MacNurse]I"m doing the Mohawk-Mac program at the moment. Take it! You can actually sqeek out a semester early if you fast track through your last summer (although you'd have to commute to Mac for that) So with that it's only 3 1/2 years....It's what I'm doing and so worth it.... Feel free to message me Elaine
  22. Elaine...Oh my gosh. You have just made my day! That makes me feel so much better. It sounds silly but a semester makes a huge difference to me. That's great thanks!
  23. Thanks for the info Lalaxton. The reason I mentioned the north is because I had another question in the back of my mind as I was writing. I wondered if there was any kind of grant or other kind of govenment incentive to work in underserviced areas. Sault Ste Marie would qualify as one of these areas. Any info would be greatly appreciated. :) :)
  24. I appreciate everyone's support and advice. I will try to relax before school starts :) I do have one more question though. Is is 12 or 24 months to become a FNP after the BSN? I would want to practice in Northern Ontrion (Sault Ste Marie where I am from). Just curious because this is something I think I may want to do (I am keeping an open mind :) ). Thanks again..I love this forum!
