Any nurses that work on a Clinical Stabilization Unit?
Hello! I applied for a Acute Detox Unit a few days ago. My aunt that works at the facility spoke to the DON as she referred me and the DON said she needs nurses for the new CSS unit opening. I’m excited but do not see much information about the nurses role on this unit. Anyone have any experience on a CSS unit as an RN? Thank you

HELP! Old new grad in LTC need advice ASAP From LTC nurses
Hello all nurses, Quick background, I graduated in May 2018 (BSN RN). Got pregnant (twice :0), passed boards January 2020. Now I have a one year old and 6 week old. I applied to work per diem/part time at a nursing home down the street from me (genesis healthcare). They said I am the first new grad they ever hired. It’s a 31 bed unit with a mixture of hospice, post acute rehab, LTC, and respite care for veterans. So long story short I am so scared. I feel I have been out of school for so long that I have lost a lot of my skills. I have no previous healthcare experience (cna/Lpn). I have 3 days of computer training and a dementia class and then I orient on the unit for a few weeks. (So they say) I start in a few weeks. Can someone please tell me I’ll be okay LOL In all seriousness can someone who’s a pro in LTC can you give me a list of advice on what skills I should brush up on. Common meds? Any resources I should look over (books)? What to expect? I don’t want to start orienting and look like a clueless crazy person LOL Any knowledge will be greatly appreciated! thank you

Last semester nerves
Hello ALL NURSES! To begin, I can't believe I made it to my last semester for a BSN Nursing degree! Although with the excitement, comes anxiety and nerves. I'm sure these questions have been answered many times, but here goes nothing. 1. Tell me everything's going to be alright!!I feel like I know nothing! How was your first couple months on the job? 2. I have no prior experience in the medical field. I'm 22 and I have been waitressing through college. How long after I pass my boards until I get a job? 3. When do I start applying for jobs? 4. I live in western mass. Anyone know of any facilities that like to hire new grads? Or in general ? (Rather not start at a nursing home) 5. How bad is advanced med surg? 6. How did you wonderful people prepare for the boards and when is a good time frame to take them? (I intend to graduate May 11th) Thank you for your time!

Starting nursing school in 17 days!!
Hello eveeyone! thanks for taking your time and reading this So I start nursing school in 17 days and I'm so excited, but so nervous!! I have not received any information ( books, supplies, etc) I received my schedule on orientation which was about a month and a half ago.. Classes are microbiology+lab, a&p + lab.. Psychology.. English.. And undergraduate experience. I'm attending a bachelor degree program and as I explained in my previous thread straight out of HS. Should I have received a listing of textbooks? Any info from the nursing program? Or do I receive it on my first day? I have to go the Sunday before classes begin for "check in day" which is mandatory for residents and commuting students ( I'm community). Basically, I just want to know what I should expect on my first day. I would be happy to hear all stories ( even if they are horribly terrifying!) lol also, will my generalized anxiety impact me anyway? I can talk to people fine. I get real nervous about public speaking and I'm well aware that I have a public speaking class in the neat future! any feedback will be greatly appreciated!

Senior in High School and just got accpetance letter into nursing school!!!
Thanks everybody for the feedback! In fact, I just visited the college today and I absolutely loved it! It was small and cozy just what I was looking for. I live about 10 miles away from the school so commuting would be quite convenient. But, I'm thinking about at least trying to live their to meet new people and get the whole "college experience". Essentially, I'm not referring to the whole partying experience but just the fact of living at school and getting involved. However, my boyfriend of four years does not like that idea. He's a couple years older than me and never went to college ( he has a full time job making $20hr). He wants me to move in with him but I really don't know what I want to do!

Senior in High School and just got accpetance letter into nursing school!!!
I'm about 99% sure I got accepted into the nursing program. I applied directly to the nursing program and this college does not require an entrance exam (maybe because it is a private school)? But I talked to the admissions officer and he said " Congrats! You have been accepted into the Nursing Program". I hope so! I would be devastated!

Senior in High School and just got accpetance letter into nursing school!!!
Hello everybody! I am so excited! I just got my acceptance letter into a 4 year nursing school! I worked so hard for this and now it's finally here! But now I am becoming quite nervous and anxious. To start, I am a senior in high school and I'm just in general nervous about this big change that is about to happen in my life. Leaving my friends, family, and boyfriend of 5 years to go to college scares me! So I have some questions and I will very much appreciate if nursing students and nurses could give me some feedback. I am very stressed that I'm not going to fit in with the other nursing students at the school. Especially because I am so young. Are there a lot of students who came straight from high school? Will the professors take me seriously? Should I live on campus? Will living off campus be a disadvantage? What should I do to prepare myself for nursing school? Any books I should read? Will I be able to work? What supplies should I buy for school and what to bring the first day without looking like a over supplied freshmen?! Any tips or suggestions will be greatly appreciated or anything you wish you knew before going to school. I have so many mixed emotions! Will I really have no life? Or does it depend on an individuals time management skills? Thanks!
