What is ur average 2 week take home pay?
I do understand that when choosing a field such as nursing you cannot be going into it with money being the only purpose for doing so.........with that said, I will be graduating in May of 2007, and come from a long line of nurses. I, too, was worried about how much I would make upon graduation because I have a family to support. I researched it well before I applied to nursing school. Now, was money my ONLY reason for going into nursing? Of course not. Was it a factor? Definately. Anyone who says they have gone into nursing with compassion for other people being their ONLY reason cannot possibly have a family to support, or at the least is not supporting it on their own. I do have compassion for other people, I love the fact that I chose a field that is based on that very fact.....but money always comes into play at some point. I can't believe that people would continue to do it these days if it didn't pay enough to pay your bills or feed your families. But that is just my opinion.

Make up...?
Do you have any men in your class?...........If so tell them you will wear it if they wear it...........one reason they got rid of the hats, men didn't have to wear them and people complained.

Salary to expect as a new grad nurse
I live in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The starting wage here for a GN at the hospital I work as an aide at is $19/hr plus $6,000 sign on bonus (no raise after you pass the NCLEX) Cost of living is pretty cheap. I have a 3 bedroom house with 2,000 square feet and my mortgage payment is only $605/month. The rent for apartments ranges from $400 - $1200 depending on what neighborhood you live in.

Help with a patient who wants to end her life
asking that life saving measures not be taken is in no way, shape or form killing yourself. my father made the decision to take my grandfather off of a venthilator, does that mean my father murdered him? i don't think so.

Help with a patient who wants to end her life
I believe that the illness is taking her life, not her. She has made a decision that she no longer wishes to receive treatment, letting the illness take her. She doesn't have very good quality of life anymore, if any. If she wants to die with what little dignity she has left that is her choice.

Would nurses support MA licensure?
I think you're right about "tell her to go back to school". I am finishing up my first year of nursing school and I work in LTC. I can't tell you how many of the aides I work with constantly complain of the pay and how the nurses do "nothing". I tell them all the time to go back to school. Funny thing is that their response is, " I don't want all the responsibility that the nurses have." I don't get it. If you want more "respect" or "better pay" quit complaining and do something about it.

Anyone heard of such a thing?
I have never heard of such a program. I too have encountered some people who tell me about "degrees" that they have earned and "degrees" that they will earn. I work as an aid. Another aid (who is in her 40's) told me that she has a masters degree in nurse's aid. Ever heard of that one?!
