  1. I'll be attending again this year. I really enjoyed the experience last year as it allows you to interacts with students of other nursing programs from all over the US and see how their programs work. You also get the opportunity of sharing ideas for fundraisers and community outreach projects which is great for expanding and improving our local chapters of the SNA. There are also great breakout sessions and getting to listen to the resolutions was also very interesting as it revealed topics that are "hot" in the medical field so to speak. Looking forward to a great week!
  2. This will be my second year attending. It was worth the experience last year, the main sessions last year were okay but the breakout sessions were helpful and interesting as well as the opportunity to network with employers, universities and other organizations along with lots of free hand sanitizer and pens (what else could nursing students want more!). My favorite part was actually listening in to all the resolutions by the schools. It's pretty educational on hot topics in the health field right now. Of course, one of the best parts is the break from school. Some of our instructors go so class back home consist of some guest speakers for those who don't go.
  3. For one, do not feel bad smontenegro23! A lot of people failed our first test! It was definitely different than any typical test. The critical thinking aspect is certainly hard to adjust to but is completely necessary. Now you have a little more knowledge going into the next one and some experience knowing what methods of studying may or may not work for you personally. Second, dorkypanda, we use a book called Fundamentals of Success. It was an optional buy for our program but almost everyone has bought a copy. It is filled with NCLEX type questions over most of the chapter topics our fundamentals of nursing book also covers. They help get you in the mindset necessary to answer those questions correctly. As well, it explains why the correct answer for each question is the best option because, as you've probably figured out, sometimes all the answers are right. Hope this helps!
  4. We are finishing our fourth week of our first year of our ADN program. The way our schools chapter of The Student Nurse Association works, the first year students elect a Vice President who will become president the second year. This is kind of how we elect people for all roles within SNA. I wasn't planning on running for anything because of how hectic I know school is going to be! However after the current president spoke to us about the elections and SNA, they caught me in the parking lot and told me they really thought I should run. Now that they've planted that seed in my mind, I do have some interest. Is it worth the extra work and time though? Does having an office within the SNA really make my resume look better? Or is it just like high school when they said National Honor Society and Student Government look great on a resume but nobody really pays any attention to it?
