  1. I love 10 hour shifts. When I work dayshift, it is 5:30 am - 4:00 pm. Afternoon shift is 10:00 am - 8:30 pm or 12:30 pm - 11:00 pm.
  2. Hi. I see that some of you on this thread already work in hospitals. I am trying to get an idea of how much Michigan R.N.s make on the West side of the State (Grand Rapids area) v.s. the East side of the State (Metro Detroit area). If you don't mind posting how much you make of what R.N.s make at your hospital, I would appreciate it. Thank you. :)
  3. How old are his 5 kids? Does he pay child support? I think that if his kids are minors, he should work at this time and concentrate on supporting his kids. If he is going to school for AT LEAST 2 years (and NOT working), how would he support them? His kids should be his priority at this time. Now of course, if they are NOT minors, then he should go for it.
  4. We use a continuous Saline drip (100-200 per hour) during HD when Hep is not used if the pt. tends to clot off.
  5. Yes, you can work Part Time in Hemodialysis. About half of the nurses in our unit work PT. Not sure about the pay in a free-standing dialysis unit, but I work in a Hospital Dialysis Center and I make the same as other hospital Nurses. Most units are only closed on the Major Holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. Most are open on Memorial, 4th of July, Labor Day.
