  1. From what I have seen at my school, I think they do in some ways, but not as maliciously as "weeding students out" sounds. I think the program is designed to get rid of the weak students in the beginning, and help the ones who made it through in the end. I don't think the teachers sit around and think about who they can get to drop out...but I do think that the program is designed to naturally get rid of the students that shouldn't be there...it prevents everyones time from being wasted. However, I do know of a few instances in my program where certain people were obviously not taking things seriously, getting bad grades, and the teachers focused in on them to get their act together or quit, and it made things harder on the student...but they should have had their act together in the first place. We are in 2 1/2 months and already down 6 students... kris
  2. I don't think it is abuse, but it is definitely uncalled for. If she did that in front of you, what could she have done behind your back?? Good for you for getting your kids out of there!! kris
  3. I can't stay away from this thread...I woke up from a dream last night and couldn't get back to sleep because I kept thinking of all of these ghosts!! kris
  4. I had my hearing checked about 3 months ago and it was great, and I have a Littman. I found out today what my problem is. Everyone has always said to listen for a "whoosh" or "psshh" sound, but I have never heard it. I was talking to a friend of mine and she and I sat down and tried to figure out why I couldn't hear it...I have been hearing it all along, but I hear it differently. I hear it more as a heartbeat than a whoosing noise...so I got checked off on it today and did fine... I can go onto clinicals! Thanks ya'll! kris
  5. This is a story that my dad tells of when my grandfather was in the hospital. it isn't exactly a nursing story, but took place in a hospital, and is creepy, so I'll share... My grandfather was one of 4 boys and a girl. While he was in the hospital dying of cancer, family members would alternate nights to stay with him so that someone would be there when he passed. On my dads night, he was asleep in the chair and something woke him up. The door slammed open and he was blinded by a "white" light. The light dimmed and when he looked into the doorway he saw the figures of a man and a woman, 3 little boys and a little girl. They walked over to the bed and my grandfather sat straight up, they began talking to each other, my grandfather layed back down, and as the figures walked towards the door, there were now 4 little boys and a little girl. My grandfather died as he layed back down from talking to the figures... kris
  6. For some reason, I have never been able to take someone's blood pressure. I don't understand why. I was in HOSA in highschool and when it came to b/p I was the only one...and now in LVN school, again, I am the only one that can't take b/p. If I can't get it before Thursday I won't be able to go to clinicals. I bought a cuff to practice on my husband, but he is getting tired of having his b/p taken... Has anyone had a similar problem or have advice for why I may not be able to do a b/p?? Hopefully I am not the only one!! kris
