Hello everyone! I'm a 30 yr old mom of 3 (3 yr old, 2 yr old, & a 2 month old). I graduated 7 yrs ago with a Bachelors degree that has yet to be of any real benefit to my career life. Nursing was always my passion, & losing my job was the kick start I needed to take the leap of faith to return to school. I'm currently working towards my ADN. Your stories only motivate me knowing I'm not alone on this journey!

Honestly, I think it has a lot to do with students who are not dedicated or are going into the profession "for the money". Nursing school is hard & is unlike any other college curriculum. If you don't have the determination to get it, you're not going to make it. Then you have faculty all with different teaching styles. Some are in-depth, while you basically have to teach yourself with others. The biggest drop happens in the first block. My class started out with about 30 or so & by midterms we were down to half of that. It's a little scary to think about, but it makes you work even harder to be one of the ones who survive!

There are soooo many care plan books out there, but it's really about finding one that is easiest for you to understand. I would suggest maybe going to a bookstore & flipping through a few, maybe read a few reviews online just to get an idea of the format. Elsevier makes a good version. I've completed the first block of the program & I would highly suggest getting a GOOD care plan book to get familiar with. Care plans played a major part during clinicals for Fundamentals. Make sure you have all of your immunization records completed as soon as possible. I've seen students put out of class & not allowed to return for not having everything done on time. Also make sure you get a solid understanding of how to solve dosage calculations. Before progressing to the next semester, everyone is required to pass a dosage calculation exam with a 90% or higher.

I'm not sure if this was previously addressed, but what type of stylus pen do you all recommend? I plan to use my ipad for note taking & would like a pen that feels as close to writing on real paper as possible. Thanks!

Yes, as soon as you complete the test, it calculates your score & gives you a breakdown of each section. I was given a printout of everything & it is also saved on the ATI site.

Congrats & best wishes to everyone accepted so far! I received my acceptance letter last week & I feel like a weight has been lifted...until classes start of course, lol
