Lehman nursing school
The problem is not having a ged the problem is getting into the program you need to take an algebra class a biology and a chemistry I believe those are the three before you can put that as your major then you have to take your basic prereqs. Also you some colleges have a waiting list and you have to keep a certain grade before getting accepted into clinicals. Some people do lpn first and then go for RN it's really up to you. You should speak to an advisor. I'm doing my cna first then I'm going for my lpn when I have the time. I'm doing this at hostos though.

Hostos CUNY lpn program
Glad I came across this post right now I will be doing their cna course next month but was considering going back afterwards for my lpn. I just moved back to NYC and am not very familiar w the schools around here and when I ask for people's opinions they never give me one. Sucks. Thanks for your opinion!

Orlando can crash courses
I was told once you have taken your first few clases as an lpn you are able to get certified as a cna.

ABC Training Center
I cannot help you w abc. I was stuck in the same situation but I decided I did not want a private institute like abc because I have bad experience w technical schools. But I did go to an open house at hostos community college yesterday and was able to learn something's that I could not find on google. I am going for Cna btw because once you have your cna and experience you can apply for pct positions or you can bridge into an lpn program. The open house wasn't that great it was short but I did ask some questions I was concerned about. The cost for cna there is $995 but for going to an open house they gave me 5% off. Plus you have $25 registration fee $115 state exam $20 ENTRANCE exam. And the cost of the book. You will need to buy your own scrubs. I was really concerned about tuition, but I was able to break down my payments. You need to pay $500 before your start day and the rest you can pay while you're in class. My start date is march 17 to April 28 m-th 9-2 It works well for me. Also they have a program called pipeline which when you call they tell you you have to be on public assistance but that is a lie. In order to qualify you need to be low income period. The only bad thing it's by a lottery so the system picks out the names. They were able to work w me. Because I was not able to take the entrance exam scheduled on the catalog for today I was told to come by any day next week. I also spoke to some one at phoenix academy but they're cost comes up to 1500. If I could save a couple bucks I will. you really have to go in personally to the schools you are looking into. Because over the phone they won't tell you all the ways they can and are willing to help you. Oh and for the workforce program you have to have some experience in the field you choose. (most of them I was told) hope I was able to help because no one was able to help me or answer any of my questions.

CNA New Grad $8 an hour please help!!!!
Good luck. I am concerned about this topic too. I will be doing my cna next month in the bronx and as I was looking for jobs just to see what my options are I realized that as an entry level I won't be getting much respect. Especially a lot of places are looking for experience even agencies. If you find anything, please let me know.

From MA to CNA help?
Thanks! I will call the community colleges and do that then. I really appreciate it. And I figured that about Everest. That's why I never want to try an institute ever again.

From MA to CNA help?
Thanks. I was just wondering how does it work can I just take the classes alone or do I have to enroll in the college as an undergraduate. I haven't really looked into the community colleges because they charge a $65 registration fee.

From MA to CNA help?
First and foremost if you have come across my posts then you know by now I am having trouble finding a cna training that I can afford. Well this time I have a question about medical assistant I went to Everest back in 2009-10 and I finished and passed all my mods. I had a problem w my externship so I never did it it. I was wondering is it possible to finish it 3 years later? Everytime I call they say they're going to give me a call back but never do. Now I don't live in NJ anymore so it's a bit hard to go back there personally with two kids and public transportation. My next question is if I were to be able to finish my extern how do I go about getting certified in the state I live in now? And last question I prolly came across this before but just wanna ask again can I work as a cNa if I am a cMa or should I still take a cNa course? Please help I'm trying to get on my feet I'm having a rough time in my current situation. And for lpn I don't have algebra biology or chemistry how can I take those classes?

FirstLight HomeCare any one knows how they work?
Thanks I thought of it that way. Which is still good because it'll give me the experience I need and obviously the income will help me pay for the actual cna class if they don't have one. But those questions are def. on my list of questions at the interview. Thanks a lot I appreciate it.
-
Best way to apply?
It depends where you are in New York City every place I've called to try and apply or been to has sent me to apply online. And in New Jersey they prefer for you to come in with your resume at hand prepared to interview.

FirstLight HomeCare any one knows how they work?
I just got called for an interview and they're aware that I'm not a cna or hha. Was wondering how they are if it's all complete home care and if they provide the class?

This made me think today..
Some people take this job just to have a job. It's only 4 weeks training in most places of course they're not doing nothing at home and they go for it. But they don't appreciate it. Cna is from the heart not just a pay check.

Getting a CNA job while in nursing school
Try indeed.com they're always looking for cna's with or without experience. They're usually health care agencies. Try to keep your resume health care if your old experiences are not related just X them out. You will find something don't give up

Nursing homes in the bronx and cna on the job training
I'm going to try the Red Cross to see about the grants I cant even get a student loan so a grant would be nice. And yea that's not too far but I went to Everest institute and it was a bad experience for me and waste of money so I try not to look into those technical schools. I am not giving up I really want my cna because I will have income to support my family but if I can't get that I will go for lpn they take financial aid and after certain classes I was told you can qualify as a cna. I'm gonna look into that as well. Thank you so much I really appreciate it.

Nursing homes in the bronx and cna on the job training
Yes that's originally were I wanted to take the course at the cost isn't to bad but still too much for me at this moment. I also tried work force but they told me I had to come back because they didn't have any available appointments and they didn't have no details to give me and I know hostos has that pipeline program but you have to receive cash assistance and all that other government help. Which I find crazy because I am trying to build a career so I don't have to depend on government help. Thanks I'll keep trying Hopefully god opens a door for me.

Hello, I just moved to NYC about a year ago, and am currently a stay at home mom but I'm looking for on the job training since financial aid does not cover the course and I cannot afford it and I have tried for several loans but my credit is horrible. I need help I've been trying for months to get this training done but no luck. Ugh it's frustrating cause I have no one to help and guide me with this situation. Helppp. Please.
