No confidence in lab skills
My 1st term ends next week, and I start clinical next term as well. I so want this term to be over already!! Hang in there, you have great grades.Remember, lab is where you apply all of the book stuff that we have learned in the classroom. Be patient with yourself, so what it takes you several tries to get it right, every time you do get it right should really boost your confidence!!! You'll do fine for your clinical, remember to do everything that you had applied in lab.

Does "All Nurses" ever make you feel discouraged?
I don't think going the LPN/LVN is EVER a mistake. You have to be realistic with the fact that you getting a job in the hospital as a LPN/LVN, are slim. ( and it really does depend on where you live)I'm fine with this realization. Now if working in the hospital is what your intentions are, then go for that BSN. In the meantime, get great experience as a LPN/LVN and go back to school. Best of luck to you!!

In the middle of week two! Also, tips for nursing students!
You listed some great points!! I am in my 2nd week as well. All that being said, when you are in Nursing School, you just have to want it... PERIOD!

Completed my 1st week of school
Ok, so I finished my 1st week of school and I'm feeling really good. You really have to adjust to the routine of being organized, reading what is assigned, not only completing your work, but UNDERSTANDING it. Taking notes is very, very important, my fingers are still sore from writing. There are so many books!! Invest in a roller bag, trust me it will save your back! If you started this week, how was it? Is it still sinking in that you are now in Nursing School? Any pointers or words of advice that you can add?

What to Bring to Orientation
Hi Stephanie, I had my orientation Dec 13th, I start my LPN program full time Jan 6, 2014. Just bring a notebook and pen to jot down anything that will be important for you to remember. They will likely provide you with your books, scrubs, and you will be introduced to the DON, she/he will be doing alot of talking she/he WILL let you know what they expect from you the student. Ask lots of questions!!! We had some students drop by our orientation and tell us what their experience has been like so far ( I think they where in their 2nd block/term) You will also meet your other classmates, you will have all age groups, from students just getting out of high school, to 30,40, 50 somethings!! So relax, sit back, take it all in, and let us know how it went!!! Happy Holidays!!

I Am Done!
Wow, what an inspirational post!!! Congrats to you, and thanks again for sharing such positive words of encouragement!! Happy Holidays!!

why are you going the LPN route?
This is my 2nd career. I've always wanted to be a nurse, but life gives us detours. The desire to be a niurse has never left me, so I pretty much quit my 1st career, and am totally going for it as a fulltime student. Why the LPN route... faster than the straight RN route, plus I get some great experince. I intend to get my LPN, work, and pursue my RN part time.
