Life after CRNA school dismissal/withdrawal
Interesting thread, I did get booted about 2 months before graduating back in 2012. The reason was moreso misunderstanding and a program director with a short fuse which I should have considered before accepting the the position. I did genuinely enjoy the science of anesthesia but I don't miss the bulls**t . I initially tried another program a year later but I was regarded as a liability despite the knowledge I obtained. I returned to the Sicu from where I came and managed to reconnect over the years but found that healthcare truly is not for me in the long run and I have been taking classes for mechanical engineering. Healthcare has become a crapshoot at least in western pa if not in other places. Try to make the best of a bad situation and go from there. Not sure if my masters in health science courses will ever mean anything to anyone.

What Do You Love About Nursing?
As a nurse of ten years this upcoming June 2017, I must admit I lack the optimistic views that others have posted. I wish you the very best in your future endeavors in nursing. You will be grossly undervalued and underpaid and overworked. My best suggestion is to shadow as many nurses as possible to be sure of your standing. It is a tremendous amount of responsibility with little authority. As far as my nursing school experience I did bust hump in my associates program before pursuing my bsn. I would hope that nursing programs finally updated their curriculum and no longer involve pointless careplans; there must be a better approach to educate and prepare nurses. I felt that nursing school was trying to sell you a good deal but kept you from seeing reality of what nursing truly involves until you are actually practicing as a full fledged nurse. Be prepared to pursue a masters degree or doctorate degree since everything now involves research which is sadly not employed in practice like it should be. Good luck in all you do.

Why I'm leaving nursing
Nurse Burnout: Could not agree with you more!!!! I have been in nursing for a little over 9 years and have had it. My main goal was anesthesia which turned into a complete fiasco in both time and money. Thankfully family has stood by me and has allowed me to save money and re-think my long term goals. Turning thirty I have come to realize I simply cannot handle this profession anymore. From the endless barrage of family members, to doctors who are in charge but are never around when you need them, and management who sees you as nothing more than a number on the clock. Being in a thankless profession that has turned into an ungrateful hotel industry has taken its toll for far too long, while I have seen my peers in other professions advance and move on to more lucrative and satisfying position. I am happy to say I will be going back to school next year for computer science. Farewell healthcare and nursing.
