Ebola - do you have the right to walk away?
Would you care for the patient without proper education/PPE?

Is it fair for the media to blame the RN in Texas for contracting Ebola?
I believe we just don't know much at this point. For example, why has none of the family contacted it, yet 2 nurses here get it? The family doesn't wear PPE do they? Is it only "some" who get it due to their weak/strong immune system? If it's not airborne, why are they contacting everyone who was on the same plane? I live 2 hours from Dallas and very concerned. Handling the shopping carts take on a whole new meaning to me.

Leaving nursing...now what??
I went to DME company. I do education and rarely do any assessments. Pay is about equiv to LVN but who cares I've been doing it for about 4 years and very little stress. More money doesn't mean happy life!

Ebola - do you have the right to walk away?
At least a job you can walk away from.

Ebola - do you have the right to walk away?
We have the right as nurses not to take on an assignment/task/procedure if we have not been fully trained and checked off on, or comfortable with. Why? Because we might harm a patient or ourselves with our lack of knowledge and lack of experience. This is no different. There are still unanswered questions. We certainly wouldn't ask a surgeon to perform surgery before knowing what he was doing, and yet we are asking nurses to step into this Ebola care blindly? I don't think so!

If we had a conservative nurses forum
I wanted to invite you to the political forum too...it's interesting over there!

Nurse with anxiety/depression
When my kids were little, I went through PPD and then horrible anxiety and panic attacks set in. I was a mess. I had to take a leave of absence. I was a registration clerk at the time before I started nursing. I think you can do it but you may not be quite ready until you feel stable first. I remember having to walk away from my desk while a patient was sitting in front of me and went to bawl...so I wouldn't have been in a safe place to nurse. But you can get out of it. You have to do everything you can to pull yourself out. I had to only allow positive things/thoughts flood my mind. Instead of saying "I wonder...I would say..."I will". Please feel free to PM me. My heart goes out to you and I can completely relate to those awful fear/feelings/anxiety! God bless you!

If you like your health insurance, you can keep it your insurance. Period
The man lied to the American's 29 times "if you like your plan, you can keep it period"

Correct, no politician would dream of destroying Medicare because they wouldn't get the votes. But the sad thing is that by 2024 it's on track to be done! It can't keep going when less it put in then goes out. So unfortunately, the money that I am paying into won't even be there! Another bad plan by the government...too good to be true!

There's nothing worse than a FAT nurse!
Unfortunately, people are actually so narrow-minded that they buy a pill if a girl looks skinny in her skinny jeans...and they think they could look like her. I disagree with you!

Does Anyone Actually LIKE Being a Nurse? (Slight Venting)
I have been a nurse since 95. I did birthing, M/S, allergies, ICU, wound clinic...and too disliked it so much! You know what burned me out? The non grateful people who want to take take take and not put any effort in to help themselves. I hate to say it, but those on Medicaid were the worst for me. They were the ones who (mostly) cared less about their health and were so demanding! I started online sales a few years ago to get away from nursing, but when the economy crashed I had to go back to work. I was determined to find a job I liked. I took a drastic pay cut, but I now do education on DME equipment and love it. I go to patient's homes and the majority are very sweet...again it's mostly the ones on Medicaid that are the most challenging...and they are the most challenging IMO. I would say, take a cut in pay if you have to, just find something you enjoy. Life is too short to be focused just on the money if the stress kills you first!

I agree. We can't force people to change. But if they see a change in those they like, it may help to encourage at least.
