  1. Also I did my fingerprints but I have yet to get a blue card but I was accepted I did my finger prints the first week they could be done. I have moved recently I wonder if it was sent to the wrong address! Oh no! I dont know what to do about that!
  2. @breonab You have taken the lecture for Assessment also? that counts as 3 hours for lecture and clincal for assessment. I am in the same boat on needing filler classes. Although I am lucky to already attend so I have signed up my schedule is Monday assessment lecture from 1p to 3:50, Assessment clincals Thursdays 8a to 10a, Spanish 2, MTWR 11a to 11:50, Advanced oral expressions or spanish majors TR 12:30p to 1:50, and Medical Terminology online. That is 13 hours. It will be difficult but I HAVE to stay a full time student. the Medical terminology class is a 3 hr class and it will be useful for the program but not required and its online (: I am ready for the nursing orientation and official letters! I have checked my email daily but I have gotten nothing. As far as apartments go, I would suggest looking for small studio apartments too! I live in one it is just me and my dog since my husband lived elsewhere for work. I feel safer than in an apartment complex. My rent is $400 and includes water, then I pay for electricity and the extras I want. My basic bills +rent for necessities are about $500. that is actually pretty cheap and my apartment is very nice! Just keep a look out for any rent houses you can find ones pretty cheap. But there are lots of apartments that give student discounts also near campus! I am just ready to start and finish! If any of you do have to take intro or patho take Jamie Buchanan! She is an amazing teacher is understanding and willing to help! I highly recommend her!
  3. Yes! also MSU is trying to start a spanish minor for professions like nursing. I am double majoring and they are hoping that they can get that minor going by next fall! It is nice to know they are trying to cater to the professions and give more classes to make you more marketable! It is amazing! I don't think the program is that easy I have many friends and coworkers that have graduated form MSU and it is still a hard program. has anyone got an official letter yet? I called but I need the letter to get the benefits from my job to help with tuition....
  4. I just called Jena also, I got in with 68 points and was #55 on the list! So excited! Can't wait to see everyone in the spring!
  5. I am ready to know too! I asked to join the group and I will try to keep books for others I know it is hard to afford them but I bought my patho book pretty much brand new for $4 on amazon it said it was used gently but I am telling you it was in PERFECT condition
  6. Tiffanie it is mine too! are you taking at MSU? if so who do you have?
  7. I emailed Catherine she is hoping they have a meeting next week!!! EEEKKK! I am so nervous. I am already in intro and patho, so I am already getting the feeling of what it is like in the program and it is HARD! I hope we know mid-october! Good luck everyone!
  8. so do you think 66 is above cutoff?
  9. I dont think they will be annoyed I am sure many people are calling. So if you do call you totally tell us what they say, because the wait is killing me too!
  10. Acceptance will be sent out mid October or November. It is still too long to wait! lol
  11. I got an email for fingerprints did yall call or do the online thing? I am going to this weekend to set mine up. friends before me in the program said they knew in october so hopefully we do too!!!
  12. No where else this time. I can't move away since I have a husband and family here. But if I don't get in then I will apply again for fall and also apply to Vernon for Associates degree. That is all I can do.
  13. I took the hesi back in 2012 when I was going to apply the first time but had to wait due to some things. But I didnt study or anything for it just went and took it. I understand your concerns though on the second language thing! I am trying to test out of a spanish class lol If it is not your language it is hard! but I am sure you will do fine if you have been studying!
  14. I think so too! I got an 84% on the HESI I rushed through so I could make it to an interview but I still passed so I am ok I did great on most of the reading part except conclusions... I did not do well at all on that part but overall I made 84.67 on english and reading then an 82 on math
  15. Well I am right at the cutoff but as long as I am within the range I DONT CARE lol! I just want in. I have struggled with everything going in my life and am happy with those 66 points lol especially this summer and during the last semester. It seems everything that can go wrong has from my husband being in the hospital for months to his mother dying and having that going on plusss we moved back so It was a struggle to maintain grades this past year.
  16. Hope to see you too! I guess I will be commenting again in October or sooner to tell you! I hope you do too! Do you already go to MSU?
  17. The spring always has less applicants I have been told so it is easier to get in. I think it was a few years about the points were like 59 or something. I think you have to have experience for them to put the CNA points for it. I have been doing it since I graduated high school and I work at the hospital here at WF we get to do ALOT and are training to start to do lab draws and IVs this week. @brianajade I am so happy for you!!!! I was told I should have no issues getting in but I am still worried. @aimingforabsn - are you applying this summer though? I hope we get in!
  18. Well I emailed her and I have 66 points. More than what I thought! She said she doesn't know the cutoff and they take the highest 70 people then start a waiting list after that. I have many friends that have been in or are in the program and the cutoff is usualllyyy around 60 to 64 points. They say you will know 2 weeks after applications are done but many poeple say it takes like 2 months after applications are done. How many points did she say you have?
  19. and points cut off differ every deadline I have heard people getting in with points in the 50s so I am just applying I have a full term of classes next semester so If I don't get in I can just apply for both MSU and Vernon in the fall.
  20. I went and met before I took chem this summer and she said if I had a B in chem for the summer I should have no problem. That is my calculation on points so I could be off. I do not know when acceptance letters come or what the cut off will be I am going to email her and see what they are tomorrow I have been at work all week. so I get home and sleep all day after. 12 hour shifts are no joke.
  21. I have finally gotten everything situated with my classes and GPA to FINALLYYYY apply! I am sending in my application this week, just finished up my chem class with a B thank god. I have a 3.0 GPA for my prerequisites and about 60 to 63 points. What do you think my chances are for getting in? When I talked to my advisor she said if I got a B in chem then I should have no problem but my worrying self doesn't want to wait that long to see. And how long did it take for a response. Application deadline is August 15th. Any helpful advise would be appreciated!!
  22. I make 11.75 working nights at a hospital 12.50 on weekends. I live in TX once I graduate school I will make 18.00 doing what I do till I pass my boards
  23. I was not successful at first mostly because me and my husband were not on the same page. He did not want to help with the house work at first and so it was like 3 jobs for me, but then he finally started realizing that he had to help more and it became easier not simple but easier. I work at a hospital as a PCA 12 hour shifts and I work a block schedule 3 or 4 days on then 3 or 4 days off I have been in the hospital setting for 2 years and I prefer it more than the nursing home setting. I stay on a pretty strict schedule and also I have learned to live on little sleep. I workout at least 3 times a week so I do not stress out so much, I would say this is a life saver because if not I have my mind going all the time but when I go run I clear my head and have even just 15 or 30 min of me time. Me time is important also. I also have benefits like Paid Time off and if I know I have a test that I have been struggling in the class then I will use a day or 2 of PTO if I am not off so I can really buckle down for that class. I review my notes daily even if it is just listening to recorded lecture on the drive up there. I have a 45 min drive to get there. All in all it takes a lot of planning and organizing. Oh and I would say the fact my hospital has a free gym for employees that is opened 24/7 that helps with when I can workout I usually just workout shower then go to class before I make the drive home. I wish we could live in the same town that I go to school and work in, but if we move here my husband has almost a 2 hour drive to work and sometimes longer depending where their rig is, so we make the sacrifice of both of us driving 30 - 45 min.. Sucks but you do what you have to do. And just keep reminding yourself it will over soon!
  24. We do all that above at the hospital I work at and insert and take out caths. I would have to say yes it gets busy but like someone said above you are only one person.
  25. I am telling you right now, elder patients are not use to change they like it their way lol They are use to "jenny" but give them a little time and they will be requesting you (: lol. And my first day a lady hit her leg on the wheel chair and gashed her skin... she had such thin skin I almost cried I felt so bad but the other CNA said it is a weekly occurrence she kicks her leg out and it happens. I am not saying to not be vigilant and careful but realize things happen. It takes time to adjust! Do not let it get to you!
