  1. Try Avant Healthcare, their head office is in Florida. They screen applicants well before linking you to employers. Though I believe it is only a selected States that they cater, am not sure if Colorado is one of them, you may need to transfer your license.
  2. To a certain degree it is right. What I did was to use an American Nursing Agency who can facilitate your employment and organize your Visas, they know the loopholes. The only setback is they tie you up with a 2 year contract and if you break its about 40 grand in penalties. And my impression is fair dinkie Aussies normally do not have difficulty acquiring the Visa compared to migrants who assume Australian citizenship.
  3. Hi There, I believe as long as you are registered with AHPRA, you will get a job. Especially if you are working in a specialty area.
  4. Hey Katye, interview itself is a formal process. You normally go on a panel interview with two or three or even four panelists. Just be calm, dress well and you'll be fine. Interviews normally evolves with 4 themes, one is a clinical question, team work, conflict resolution. It seems majority of the interview questions would revolve on this. If you are an RN you start Grade 5 (depends on your qualification overseas, Payrolll will assess but they need to see your certificate indicating you worked as an RN with the number of hours and how long and also if you are full time or part time) This is where they decide what Pay Level you will be.
  5. I do not believe the Board will abolish the Bridging programs for IEN's. IEN's may at first not appreciate what is the goal of the Bridging programs ( because of cost, requirements etc ) But ultimately it helps them adjust in the Australian health care setting. I have handled quite a number of foreign educated nurses under a bridging/assessment program and it serves a transition program for them to blend and adjust with the system. More often, IEN coming from a third world country - it is usually a big shock to see the diiference in clinical setting and operation requirements.
  6. Mediserve as well. I have been with Mediserve for years and they are I believe one of the very few agencies even present in the Territory. They have rural/remote placements as well and can transfer in between states and territories
  7. I do work with heaps of NP's especially in Emergency, they ran the Fast Track, prescribe meds (limited) and discharge patients home, though they work side by side with the docs. There are a number of NP candidates as well, they take the exam I believe annually and based from what I heard, it is a very difficult exam
  8. Hey mate, did you every hear from the Ontario College of Nursing. I work in the Gold Coast and have submitted an application in British Columbia, I reckon the Paeds and Maternity are compulsary education requirements. They also require a verification for all the employers the last 5 years (which sometimes can be a pain, especially if you work casual/agency/part time) to different facilities over time) Did you end up sitting the CRNE? Am just wondering too if there is any case of an exemption being given by CRNBC in sitting the CRNE? I took Midwifery few years back and has a post grad subject in mental health too, so looking forward all will be ok.
