  1. VonE, No there are a bunch of people. I am in the accel-DNP program for PMHNP. There is a facebook page that OHSU will add you to for all the new nursing students & some students have created the various sects & subsequent facebook pages for their specialty. The way I see it is YEAR ONE I am a nursing student, once I pass the NCLEX then I'll be a graduate student. I plan to move to the Hill. I am a notorious oversleeper & don't want to fret over parking or missing the bus. What are you doing?
  2. VonE, I just emailed ------------------ and this is what she responded with, I was incorrect in my thinking. The SON has a summer start of June 23rd (which is different than on the OHSU academic calendar possibly). There will be a specific program orientation date on June 19th (more information will be sent out to all students about this piece soon). There is a unified orientation date on June 30th (this is also the date other schools start their program.
  3. I think that for first year's class start on June 30th, if you look further down the schedule there is another start date listed as 6/30. Hopefully they'll send out more information. I just contacted the program coordinator & 1 month before classes start we'll get our OHSU email & network accounts. Congrats on getting it. I can't wait to meet everyone! Are you just doing the accel-BSN program?
  4. Hi there, I had a phone interview - so just one person. It lasted 45mins to an hour. The prompt was emailed to me by 10a and my interview was scheduled for 2p. If you want to I suggest looking at the previous years application boards they posted a lot of information about the process. Good luck!
  5. I've sent out a few emails, but haven't really started looking yet. Everyone that I have called say they won't really know until residents give a 30 day notice.
  6. I just got of the phone with the admissions department. I've been accepted to the accelerated PMHNP program... Has anyone else received a call?

  8. I haven't heard anything yet. Was told decisions for the PMHNP program would not be made for at least three weeks. Today I'm trekking up to Seattle for an interview with Seattle University tomorrow.
  9. I just received a phone call for the PMHNP program for an interview this coming Tuesday. Finally OHSU is catching up on all their applications! Good luck to everyone!!!!!

  11. Thanks for the information. Did they say when interviews were going to be or just that they'll be making phone calls within the next two weeks? Online it says that they are typically held in February... I am so tired of this waiting game. Patience when it comes to interviews and the such I do not have as a virtue. Patience for clients and humans that need it I do have that as a virtue.
  12. @ Hope77rn My mentor attended OHSU and completed their accelerated PMHNP program. She did not have trouble finding work, worked in community mental health for 5+ years before finally deciding to expand her private practice. She is an amazing woman and is doing quite well for herself. I do know that it can be harder to find a job at the psych hospital but that is because in this area there is a flood of students. But all of my nursing friends report it is difficult to find work in the PDX area without having a specialty and think that this route is one of the smarter routes to go. Hope this helps!
  13. @drm2013 I have been working as a psychiatric assistant in community mental health for 3 years. Prior to that I ran a group home for children & transitioned it into an adult home for people who were developmentally disabled & had a mental illness. My undergrad GPA at UO is horrible... barely a 3.1, but my prereq GPA is a 4.0 - while I have been working full time. I also volunteer for habitat for humanity and am a member of phi theta kappa honors society. My GRE score was above 310 (combined) though I do not remember the exact score. In my letter of intent I explained how I became interested in psychiatric nursing and over the phone interview I explained the passion for nursing that I had. Not sure if this info helps. I am still in shock that I've been accepted.
  14. What were your essay prompts?
  15. Hi hope77rn, I am unaware of any of the stats for the PMHNP program directly. What you've listed is the only figure I can find - anywhere. Just sitting on pins & needles waiting to hear from them! Good luck with the application process. As soon as you can get everything submitted through the NursingCAS as they do take sometime processing transcripts etc., and that way you only have to focus on the supplemental essay portion to open up for OHSU.
  16. Have you heard from them yet?
  17. Nope, it is for those who already have a previous non-nursing related degree. If you had a BSN you could just apply for the MSN program.
  18. Thank you for the information. I am a little happy to hear that they let students who are selecting the accel with MSN/DNP first because that's my first choice! I do hope to bump into you on campus next year and am eagerly anticipating starting classes. I just hope they give those of us who have to interview longer than 1 week's notice which is what seems to have happened to a quite a few applicants last year!
  19. So they just finished inviting the candidates for the Midwifery specialty. Next up on the docket is the psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner interviews, though those aren't technically yet scheduled. I am hoping for an interview but my GPA is not my strongest feature on my transcript. I am hoping that my work experience will overshadow that... though looking through last year's posts is quite disheartening. I do hope that OHSU does not lollygag like they did last year on notifying candidates. I have been accepted to a program in SoCal but it starts May 5th - which leaves me very little time to scamper and move there if I'm waiting on OHSU.
  20. @ mamakac Congrats on being in your second term at OHSU! That is amazing!!! Did you have to go through an interview process for the program or just wait until they announced who had made the cut? I'm hoping for the psychiatric specialty - and they do require an interview. If you did interview what was this process like? And how is school going
  21. @Gabookworm Thank you! I just sent my request to join!
  22. @EMU3121 I was accepted for this summer '14 program at the Inland Empire Campus. I was hoping for the Azusa or San Diego Campus but I'm excited either way to just get started with the program! It is such a nice feeling to have a start date, don't you think? Congrats again!
  23. @ Lcrown Congrats on getting an interview! So it was like about a month wait from when the time the applications closed to when they notified you of your interview? The only reason I ask is because the program I'm hoping for just closed and I am an extremely impatient person when it comes to things like interviews/applications/waiting, etc. Good luck with the 'view and let me know how it went. Do they tell you anything about how to prepare for it or what to expect?
  24. @EMU3121 Holy crap I feel like an asshat. I never got notified that people had responded to my post. I thought no one cared! I was recently accepted to Azusa Pacific. I live in Portland Oregon but have family in SoCal so I am no stranger to the location. Did you get in?
  25. Hey Everyone! I feel like I'm a little late to the party, but I was recently accepted (letter in December) to the Inland Campus Summer '14 cohort as well, but I cannot find the fb page... can someone help a girl out? Also I'll be moving from Oregon and was wondering if anyone knew of where to live that wasn't requiring an arm/leg for rent?
