  1. Sorry but I don't believe that if you respect people, people will respect you back. some people just have no respect, whether you are nice to them or not. This is the real world folks! In the real world, cna's can act childish and not do their job properly and who do you think gets in trouble? charge nurse! i really agree with sending these people home as punishment and most of the time it works. nursing is a team effort and if one person is not doing his/her job properly then the whole team does not need to suffer. i admire those folks who thinks they can just talk nicely and diffuse the situation but in my experience, wounds make better lessons than books or words. And I meant that figuratively. A cna who was sent home will never make the same mistake again unless the person doesn't want a job.
  2. I think there should be a law against these wrong practice of giving too much workload or patients for nurses. It is not safe for all parties involved.
  3. Wakeuptothesun86 your gut instinct is correct in my opinion. If you think you can't handle the job because of UNSAFE workloads then quit before something bad happens to your patient. worry more about your patient safety than your student loans. im afraid these people giving you financial advice here are not fully aware of the consequences about patient safety.
  4. Jl8708 i just want to tell you that you are not alone. I made a mistake with insulin today because of my inexperience, thankfully the patient was not hurt. I was such in a hurry that I was cutting corners. all I can tell you is pray pray pray and tell someone you know about it. It helps instead of bottling it up inside. This too will pass. in a way I realized how I need to not cut corners and how I have to find another less hectic facility to train with. I can not train where I have to pass meds on 30 patients within 2 hours when I've only been a nurse for 3 months. goodluck with you and I am always here if you need someone to talk to. Please do not hesitate. we will get through this I promise you.
  5. Don't give up! i have attended some cases about nurses who had done far more worse involving getting their patients hurt or killed and they were given a second chance. every body deserves a second chance. Nobody believed that I will be a nurse one day because of my terrible attitude and depression but here I am! The only advice I can tell you is to get legal help for expunging your record etc. i promise you, you, one day you will look back at this and wonder why you were ever worried.
  6. Don't feel so bad. You are not alone, I just finished my first day yesterday and it wAs insane, I am still giving 9pm meds on 11pm. And people kept on calling me with no end for pain meds, and sleeping meds and cna's calling my attention for something they see on the skin. I want to quit on my first day but I think I will try giving it a week or two. If not, I will just do home health and go back to school for rn.
  7. I understand your stress. I, myself, struggles about the ethics of what I am doing. Like you, I think sometimes my hands are just being used as an instrument of harm. I see all these medications that is being passed which are a bit questionable, and sometimes I feel like doctors only care about sedating their patients. It is such a shock as a new graduate, and I hope I find myself along the way. I don't want to end up soulless like other nurses who has been there for a very long time.
  8. I am an lvn. I went to a private school because I have no time for wait lists.
  9. Please no. It's horrendous. Hindi pogi pag ganyan. you can get cheap scrubs for like 15 to 20. Remember you are a professional now. Good luck.
  10. It took me a month of applying everywhere to land a job but only because I was recommended by someone from the inside. I used to apply 5x a day and I only got one call and I turned the offer down (which was a mistake) because I thought I could do better. but I got a better job in the end. :) and I did get a better offer.
  11. Go for what you truly desire! I think it is doable.
  12. Hahaha! We did it! it is a five star rehab facility. I can't tell you the name here because of certain reasons. But if you really want to know I can pm you. :)
  13. If you want to work on home health, try to call this number. 213 739 1155. Tell them you want to attend the orientation on tuesday. Submit your resume to Reggie or aloha. good luck. I just said no to them because I was busy with my new job.
  14. Xtine, no they didn't call me, I think north hired another person but...... i work at a nearby rehab center. :) the place is really busy but I really hope they would train me well.
  15. So how was your work? Did you like it? I don't have any luck at all.
  16. Stay away from the drama! That is the best advice I told myself. Nursing school is hard and I decided to just shut off everyone that is not helping me succeed. in the end, I graduated valedictorian of my class and passed the nclex on my first try. When all is said and done. It was worth it.
  17. first of, where in California are you at?
  18. Yes. I used to work there as well. :) I love ktown and k-bbq.
  19. I'll go tomorrow. :) If I get the job you are coming with me on K-town for korean bbq. :))
  20. @kristinelouise Yes. I live in Los Angeles. :) Don't worry about what the administrator say, if they don't want their employees to leave it is up to them to either pay more and/or give them less patient load.
  21. Hi! I'm sorry that you are dealing with such a problem. I am not here to make your decision for you as it is a personal and important decision. But all I can say is something that my former instructor once told me and something I take into heart, "Always think about the safety and welfare of your patient first before your license". When everything is said and done, I want to be at peace in heart that I had not done anything wrong with the people I cared for.
  22. Take the job Kristine. I assume that you are an at-will employee like 99% of the jobs are so you can leave any time you want if you can't handle it. I am a recent graduate too and I regretted not taking the offer for me on my first week of job hunting because the salary was a bit low. I am now on week 4 and only had my 1st interview but I am not yet giving up. :) Take the job and leave if you can't handle it. And if you decide to do so please let me know which company and where you were hired. Good luck!
  23. I salute you Iamwrong for being a patient advocate. Sometimes it is very hard to stick with your principles but I find it necessary. Because who else will do the right thing but you on that situation. Do not doubt yourself for doing the right thing. If you ever get in trouble for doing what you did. Just leave, because nurses like you deserves to be somewhere else better.
  24. 17000 18 mos. part time program.
  25. Qsmoss. Same boat here. Graduated top of my class but during NCLEX review, I am really worried and ask myself what I did wrong because I am not doing so well on my review but I am studying everyday. Good luck with you! Things can only get better as you gain more experience I hope.
