  1. I'm applying too for the fall 2017! I've mailed my transcripts and about to finish csu mentor tomorrow. My gpa and stats....I'm not so proud of. GPA: 3.5 TEAS: Taking it Oct. 28th HEALTH POINTS: I am a MA but I've only been working as an MA for a year and half. It says I need to have over 900 hrs. to get the health points right? ;[
  2. I am a medical assistant per diem for a doctor at a LTC facility. I am not "technically" certified MA, however I am like an intern for my boss/ Doctor under her supervision. I have my A.A degree already and at the moment I have finished EMT school. So all I need is to take the NREMT....which I haven't. 1. My boss hasn't taught me about injections yet. I don't do injections just mostly taking vitals and clerical vote. I live in the Socal area, is there a place that I can take quick MA classes or a refresher to take the MA certification? 2. I passed the physical portion and EMT class. All I need is to take the damn NREMT (I didn't pass the first time) and I'm so stressed because I am studying for the TEAS and NREMT and classes. My thoughts are all over the place. It's midnight and I wake up at 4am to go to work at 5am.
  3. It is not the time constraint I'm worried about. It's getting the questions correctly is my problem.
  4. I did purchase both the ATI testing book and the Secret of the TEAS mometrix one and I also purhase the Mcgraw Hill 5 practice tests. I did terrible on all subjects honestly. xO expecially the science portion. I'm already thinking of dropping CSULA and SFSU (SFSU is super expensive for me and my last two options) and I'm applying the RN program at LA County RN program.
  5. Hi, So I've been studying the TEAS exan since Oct 31st and frankly I'm getting discouraged. I registered for my TEAS V on Dec 19 so I made two months to study. Frankly, I feel discouraged. I've purschased the ATI Study Manual, Secrets of the TEAS V, and the McgrawHill TEAS V practice tests. I've been taking notes and such but I am not getting the material. very section I made over 5+ mistakes on English and many on other subjects. As time goes near I fear I will not be prepared. Day and Night I'm studying. I have all this time, I just don't know how to efficiently study I guess. I'm applying for CSULA, CSUEB,SFSU, SJSU,CSUSAC, LAPC, LAVC. My gpa is around 3.4. I already took the teas once and thiis my first and final shot at getting a higher score. Any encouragement or advice?
  6. including the non transferable courses? Sorry for asking so many question I just dont want my application to be delayed.
  7. do I need to manualy put every single class that I took that is transferable? Even the ones that aren't in the nursing pre requisites?
  8. Do we need to manually input every single class we took in the nursingcas.org?
  9. ugh that is ridiculous. I already spent over 60 just for 5 sets of transcripts and now I have to send that too. It's infuriating.
  10. Hi there, I'm not sure where my question thread is supposed to go. I'm sorry if it's inhe wrong forum. If anyone uses the nursingcas.org for nursing applications, PLEASE HELP ME. On the transcript section of the website This is what I got as a message (I'm trying to finish all nursing applications ahead of time get it over with since I'm applying to 5 CSU's) Instructions to the Registrar Please attach this form directly to the official transcript for the above applicant and forward the official transcript (see requirements below) in a sealed envelope directly to: NursingCAS Transcript Processing Center P.O. Box 9201 Watertown, MA 02471 The transcript must meet the requirements below to be considered official” by NursingCAS A Registrar's seal and/or legible signature included on the transcript. Must be mailed directly to NursingCAS from the Registrar's Office. Cannot be marked Issued to Student” or Student Copy.” Must reflect all relevant, correct information for the student Am I supposed to send another set of transcripts to that address or the CSULA nursing department? And on the "Transcript Entry", Am I supposed to manually put all the pre rew classes I took there? Because if I need to send another sent of transcripts I'm gonna slam my head on my desk because I just spent 61 bucks >.> I got an AA degree in Health Science, but I put minor in NURSING, I CAN'T EDIT THIS. I'm scared.
  11. Okay I'm a half hour ahead and I'm SO LOST on this nursingca website thing for the application. I submitted my official transcripts to the CSULA office of admission, do I need to send them again to the nursing department? Also, what's with this I'm seeing on the nursingca.org Transcript Matching Form NursingCAS - Central Application Service Instructions to the Registrar Please attach this form directly to the official transcript for the above applicant and forward the official transcript (see requirements below) in a sealed envelope directly to: NursingCAS Transcript Processing Center P.O. Box 9201 Watertown, MA 02471 The transcript must meet the requirements below to be considered official by NursingCAS A Registrar's seal and/or legible signature included on the transcript.Must be mailed directly to NursingCAS from the Registrar's Office.Cannot be marked Issued to Student or Student Copy.Must reflect all relevant, correct information for the student Am I supposed to send another set of transcripts to that address or the CSULA nursing department? Because if I need to send another sent of transcripts I'm gonna slam my head on my desk because I just spent 61 bucks >.>I got an AA degree in Health Science, but I put minor in NURSING, I CAN'T EDIT THIS. I'm scared. I've been waiting and I finished all pre req and TEAS. I'm just waiting to finish my application to get it over with. I have over 200+ hours of clinical direct patient care. I am a volunteer at a hospital and work as a MA for a retirement home. I take vitals 2x a month but also clerical work and on call. That counts right?
  12. After this year, I'll only have about 1-2 years lefts for financial aid. :/
  13. I'm 22 years old Pre GPA: 3.55 Overall GPA: 3.75 I have nearly 125 volunteer experience at a hospital. I had experience working as an MA with over 400 hours, unfortunaetly, I can't use that for my application. I'm a transfer student and I've finished all my pre-req and all I need to do is my TEAS exam. Unfortanetly, I didn't do the test on the deadline because I was going through severe depression. Now, I debate whether it's worth to wait one more semester or to go on to San Jose state. According to sanjose state my pre nursing gpa is 3.42 (I think that's really low in compariso nto 3.8 and about) I really don't think I'll make it there. However, san jose is the only place I have applied and I live in socal. I was thinking of just transfer and get my Bachelor in Health science then try again for nursing. But then I don't know whether I would have the funds to do another bachelor's. If I wait until Spring 2016, I can apply for nursing fos SJSU SPRING, SACRAMENTO SPRING, LAPC SPRING, COC, AND LAVC. I would also apply for san francisco and csula for nursing. I'm getting tired of waiting though, I don't know whether I should just wait or just transfer for a Health science. My dream is to become a nursing, but what would I do with a health science degree? Anyone understand or relate to how I'm feeling? I spoke to a counselor and taking the last two GE courses this spring. And at fall 2015, I got no other classes to take and dont wanna use up my fafsa aid. I have no job either. :/
  14. That is exactly how I feel right now. I live in California where nursing is so impacted. My first attempt was a 60.7. It was just bad. Last semester was actually horrible for me because that whole week I had 4 exams to do including the TEAS. I have my retake on Jan 31st and even with my ATI study guide plus the Mcgraw hill practice tests. You can look at some schools in your area that you may retake the teas after 5-7 years and then retake it. There are also some places where you can take the teas a third time. You just need to really look hard for those skills I know it can be hard but you can do it.
  15. Okay, phew! I think my gpa is okay then right? I'm going to try to score an 85 or above to get in. Wish me luck! Also for the volunteer/ work experience, I have another issue from there. You see last summer I worked as an office assistant in a clinic setting. I wasn't as a medical receptionist, however I did have contact-patient interaction. I had to verify insurances, make appointments, fax documents, things what a receptionist does. Would that be considered in your perspective? I also volunteer at a hospital and will have a job where I would foreshadow a nurse. It is like an internship.
  16. I'm from Los Angeles Mission College and it said in assist.org that my science pre-req don't articulate! It said as long as it has lecture and lab I'm fine so to speak. I've emailed the articulations officer but I haven't received a response yet. And for nursing admission do they only consider the 8 pre-reqs more of an emphasis than the 8 pre-req and the co requisite gpa? Pre +Co requisite GPA: 3.55 TEAS Score: retaking Optional Criteria:12 Overall app score: will update later
  17. I am going to be completely honest and say that unless you have an lvn job lined up, it is going to be EXTREMELY difficult getting a job here. I live in the southern Los Angeles Area and it is one of the worst places to move. I know it seems biased, but I lived here my whole life. I know many nurses who have RN and LVNs licenses and find it very difficult to have a job. Some I know moved up northern california because the pay rate is higher from here from what I heard. Unless you have a job lined up before moving to La, you might be reconsider moving here.
  18. Oh! I forgot to mention I have 5 weeks to study...is that enough to cover both books? lol
  19. So I have about 5 weeks to study to take the TEAS again. This was my first attempt I'm not proud of because I didn't take it seriously: Adjusted Individual Total Score: 60.7% ATI Academic Preparedness Level: Proficient Mean - National: 64.3% Mean - Program: 70.6% Percentile Rank - National: 40 Percentile Rank - Program: 21 I need to score at least a 88-90% on adjusted score. :/ The problem is how do I study? I have the ATI study manual from the website and the MCGRAW 5 TEAS practice exams. How do I focus or even start?
  20. That's the thing, I don't have any other plan. I can get into an associates degree in nursing, but that's based on lottery according to the schools I'm close to. I can't repeat a class because it lowers my chances.
  21. I finished my last pre-requisite which I'm actually not happy about. I was borderline (around 88-89%) and received a B on my physiology course. Eng 101 B Chem B Anatomy B Physiology B Stats A Micro A I only applied to two BSN nursing programs (CSU Sacramento and San Jose State) I missed the deadlines for the other university nursing programs I applied to because my TEAS exam is past the deadline to turn in the application. For San Jose State, I have a 3.4 gpa. I feel like I scored too low and will deny my application. For CSU Sacrament I have around a 3.6 GPA. I will be taking my TEAS the second time in January. I want to ask if anyone has gotten into the nursing program with a GPA of 3.4 or similar? I feel discourage. Of course I am still going to apply, but I want to know if anyone is at a similar experience. I don't have a C in any of my pre-requisites. I heard that if you have a B in physiology or lower it's automatic rejection from a nursing school is this true?
  22. Yes! I wanna aim for aroun 85% or 90% hopefully. If you have volunteered or worked at a clinical setting with patient contact I would fill out this one form they had. I don't see any that said a reccomendation but I would include it in the volunteer experience just in case.
  23. Hi! I'm applying to CSULA nursing for fall 2015! I'm taking physiology right now and it's my second time taking it :/ I hope thi time around I get a A or B. I didn't do so great on the first TEAS attempt, but I'm retaking it on dec 20th if all goes to plan.
  24. Thank you everyone. I guess I had a moment there. I tend to overthink because I've had people repeated tell me having a C in any pre-req will not get you into a nursing program. Many have told me this and it just makes me wonder if it is true? I'm finding ways to cope with my test anxiety and I will write a list to keep in my pocket telling myself everything will be okay (a classmate suggest me this) I am going to speak with my professor today because there are things I need to clarify between the book and his notes.
