Medication Lists
From my pharmacology experience, there isn't a great need to know every medication ever invented. You will be tested on specific classes (anti-neoplastics, diabetes meds, cardiovascular, antibiotics). Ive attached a great resource for nursing students when it comes to pharmacology. You may want to look at the common medications that are given. This can get a bit tricky when there are dozens of meds in the same class and most are never prescribed. Mosby's 2

Patho
Nursing school will allow you to take on as much as you want. The trick is knowing your limit. Patho can go down to the molecular level, father than you need to know. Use you objectives to guide you and you'll stay on track. Get the fundamentals down and build from those. I always composed questions related to the content and when I could answer those I felt competent enough. Don't overwhelm yourself and stay in the fight. You take it day by day and don't get discouraged!

Any Hesi fundamentals exam experiences?
Hi. My classmates and I took the HESI on Monday I can completely relate. It was indeed the content that we went over in our Foundations class, but on steroids. I went through it not really sure of my results, fortunately I was able to pass but it was more luck than anything. Since its such a broad amount of information you're going to have to rely on your knowledge and most importantly trust your reasoning. It helped me to not look for the correct answers, but I explained to myself why the other answers were wrong. Do NOT give up. I know its the cliche thing to say around here but its the truth, nursing isn't linear and neither is being a nursing student. Don't take it too hard, just learn from it and keep it moving. Brush up on those things you know you may not be strong in (sterile technique, assessment skills, etc.). And lastly, as far as NCLEX is concerned, no test no matter how low or high you score determines your intelligence. You have much farther to go and with time you'll learn tricks. GOODLUCK!

Having hard time passing tests
You'd be surprised to find out how many 4.0 students enter nursing school and just wish to simply pass AND this is somewhat perfectly fine. The material isn't static (as Im sure you've found out so you can't just regurgitate; it has to be applied. I find it helpful to write questions that relate to the material and see if I can answer them. Also, I review each objective and if I the goal is to be able to explain it as if I were the teacher. However, everyone learns differently and you just have to see what works for you. But don't get discouraged. Nursing is hard, and you'd want it to be if you were that patient that you're going to treat one day! Lastly, do NOT and I repeat, do NOT get too caught up in having all A's. At this point in your career you are studying to save a life, not make an A.

Withdrawal Question Please!!!
Be sure that you withdraw as soon as possible, many institutions do not allow withdrawing beyond a certain point. Mine is the 6th week of the semester. Secondly, as far as the future it shouldn't hurt but in the event that you do need a fine art to get into your program (as I do) it'll just set you back a class. But sounds like you should be good. GOODLUCK :)

about to enroll to become an RN
Do NOT think that way. My mother who's 50 now attended nursing school after having a career for 20+ years. She graduated with a 4.0 and always told me how she felt crazy to be intimidated to be frightened. Now, as a pre-nursing student myself Im enrolled with people my senior and I must say, its all what you make of it. They seem to do better than the students my age actually. I say go for it and don't look back! GOODLUCK!

How many pre-reqs do you have to go?
Gotta stay motivated and get it done. Got the opportunity to fish my Pre-Reqs in one year instead of two so not taking this overload would mean staying pre nursing for another year for one class. I really appreciate it. Stay focused and get on out of there!

A&P I Lab Help!!
I find it helpful to use a few methods to retain everything. 1) Don't try to remember everything at once. Try to group one group first and then move on (Ex. Get the epithelial tissues down before you go to connective.) 2) SELF QUIZ SELF QUIZ and SELF QUIZ!!!!! I get a blank sheet and write everything that I know we need to know for lab test (Functions, Locations and Structure). If you don't know it on your test you probably won't for the actual one either :) 3) Relate everything to your own body. You have everything that your book/teacher is discussing (besides organs of the opposite sex). 4) Don't get over-whelmed, you have a half of a semester to go! Don't give up!
