Any Minneapolis/St. Paul folks out there?
Hello! Welcome to MN! I just relocated here from Pennsylvania just last summer and I applied for tons of jobs before I actually moved. My only experience as a RN is 2 years in an ED. So I wanted to see what outpatient was like and applied to some outpatient jobs but never got any callbacks. I did get callbacks from urgent cares that needed a new nurse for next week so I had to let those go. I came here for a interview at one of the Allina systems hospitals and was offered the job in the ED. During my orientation I met a lot of new grad nurses who got inpatient jobs but many were only part-time. So part-time might be an option to apply to just so you can get yourself in the door and then possibly work up your FTE. Also other new hires were in the outpatient clinics first for few months before they were hired as inpatient. Like the comments before mine, I'd apply everywhere, lots of large health systems here! I get postings from HealthPartners all the time, they are looking for outpatient positions. Look at the region's hospital website for their inpatient postings. Best of luck! You can also PM me as well if you have other questions!

Looking for NP preceptor for May 2015!
Thanks so much for your reply! Yeah, everywhere I've contacted either are filled (even for a year and a half with students), don't want to take students, don't want to initiate a new contract, or only take local students from its serving area. My coworker is set to graduate soon from a local program and he said he had such a hard time getting clinical as well. It's frustrating and disheartening that we invest so much to be able to get that degree and take care of patients as an NP, yet it appears impossible to find a preceptor.. I have been contacting a lot of community health centers, usually the clinic managers are out of the office and I have to leave a voicemail. I will find more rural clinics further outside of the Twin Cities and see if anything turns up. Do you have any leads for family or adult clinics? Thanks so much for your reply again!

Thank you so much for your reply! I will keep that in mind for my last semester where we could choose a specialty rotation. Do you have any leads on any primary clinics in MN, I am willing to travel outside of the twin cities as well. Thanks so much for your time and help!

looking for NP preceptors in Twin Cities, MN!
Hi everyone! I am currently a part-time FNP MSN student at George Washington University. I am desperately looking for a NP preceptor for May 2015 to obtain 200 adult hours around the Twin Cities. It can be an adult clinic or a diverse family clinic. Willing to travel! I had to relocate to MN from PA in July so it's been very difficult to locate preceptors without a solid network like I had back in PA. Any leads would be super helpful! My experience as an RN has been in the emergency room. I am also looking for preceptors for Peds and Ob/GYN for Fall 2015 and Family hours in Spring 2016. Please let me know if you have any leads at all! Thank you so much for your time!

Where to work and RN wages in MN
I really want to get into healthpartners system. There are alot of full time positions and I been trying to look for a part time. I'm currently in the ED now and will have two years of experience once I leave but I want to move towards a part-time clinic job instead so I can focus more on school. I've applied to allina's urgent care position but they wanted to hire asap when they called me for an interview so that didn't work out. How is the wage for clinic RNs? I know that acute care usually pays more.

Anyone starting GWU's FNP program in spring 2014?
I used my research mentor from my undergrad and my nurse educator of my unit as my reference letter submissions. My GPA was 3.75 undergrad, and I also plan to work part time during the program. Spring start is part time only.

Anyone starting GWU's FNP program in spring 2014?
Yeah I saw that too..maybe because it's their first time with the spring start, so they didn't create a winter orientation for spring starters. Did you contact your advisor yet? I did the checklist thing on the ewelcome packet and made the email account and such. Not sure what to do next haha I know the policy on the background check and drug screen stated that we will be contacted by the school for that eventually.
